MORE MOTOR CARS SOLD m 1§21 THAN IN 192«, WITH 8 MONTHS' LEEWAY
Albany, May 2«.—With a bp.siness that hax brought M.000.009 to the state, ell records in the automobile tMireau have been broken during the last four months. Secretary of State Lyons has licensed more chauffeurs and registered more cars than daring all of last year. There has l>een heavy selling of second hand cars.
Seemingly the demand for chauffeurs Is running as heavy as ever.
Secretary Lyons has arranged |for three examinations on Long I.sland, the first at the Court House, Mineola, on June 3. There will be another examina¬ tion In Mineola on June 22.
Bxaminers will lie at Huntington on June 23, at the Town Hall. All examina¬ tions will begin at 9.30 o'clock.

Tariff and Rereave Bills May Haye
Sole AttentioB After Next
Week
Wa.shlngton, May 2«.—Pa«.«ige by tho house of a peace resolution, expected the latter part of next week, will clear the house calendars of 'all Important legislation, excepting the tariff and rev¬ enue revision bills, and the reappro- pri.ition bill.
The tariff bill In to be ready for action by the House the middle of June. It ts expected that at least three weeks will be required to get It to a vote on flnal passage in the House, Tho bill will go then to the Senate, where, re ports havo it, ho many changes arc to t)o made that it will be rewritten pnic tically. The Hou.se Ways and Means Committee has done only preliminary work on the revenue revision.
It has been found impossible for the House and Senate to reach a basis of ngreement on reapportionment legisla¬ tion, based on the cen.sus of population for 1920. The house pa8.sed a bill In- croaslng its membership to 433, or 43 more than the present membership, in order to loscapo many reductions In state representation. Under the pl.an proposed, Maine and Missouri would have lost representation.
The bill was opposed In the House by members who objected to any Increase in tho present size of the House and by others who wanted the increase as few as possible.
When the bill reached the Senate, the House delegations who were hurt under the House plan, appealed to their S«aators, and the latter havo held up tho legislation until the present time. No compromise plan has yet been reached.
