VHOL'OHT FOR DECORATION OAl
Uow would you like to be a little tot, old enough to know sorrow, but not old enough to help yourself? And how jvould you like to be an object of tharlty in a land devastated by war— A war over which you had no control and which deprived you of your par¬ ents? The future would look kind of poor, wouldn't it?
There are thousands of youngsters In Just t..oee circumstances—facing a future devoid of father and mother k)ve. It Is the price they must pay for iheir parent^' patriotism. Should they be allowed to suffer because tbclt parents died defending their country? Kot while there is an American alive. Tho official flower for Decoration Day win be the iwppy, tho flower which blooms on the graves of so many of our boys "over there." Artiflcial flowers made by thtso orphaned tots will be on sale all over the U. S. on that day. Tho movement is ai)provod by every patriotic orRanlzation. There Is no administrative e.xi)enso attached to tho sale. Every cent received goes to the French War Orphan Fund and will be used to try and bring a little sunshine Into the dismal world In Which they live.
Buy poppies—wear a poppy—show your sympathy for these Innocent war Ylctims in a substantial, patriotic way. 0

If you Ured in a chartninir froup ot'konmma Juat muteiAo UMnpataad Vll Imgo m»tt Mt Um natri ef the berieflla derived by being within tbe corporate limits, wouldn't you work amontc your neighbors to have your home section added to the Tllla«r«?
Some of you who read this would— and some wouldn't.
Just why anytMie wouldn't Is hard to understand. But it la so. The Idea has been auggested over and over acaia. The vfHaa^e ofBclalfl are quite willing the annexation of a reasonable amount of outside territory ahould be accomplished. They, however, arc of the opihlon .the request should come from outaiders, rather than from with¬ in the village. Their attitude is: "Cotne In and welcome, if you like, but we won't force you to do so."
Two serious fires have occurred in Chester Park, only a few hundred feet beyond the village limits, and in each case Hempstead Volunteer J-iremen have gone to the rescue with village fire fighting apparatus. TWey have had to lay a thousand or more feet of hoae from tho nearest hydrant within the vlllago to send streams on the burning buildings. The service has proven pitifully ineffective.
If Chester Park and other home col onles Just outside the village line were annexed to Ilempstead better lire pro tcctlon could bo demanded.
There are numerous other benefits that would accrue if the change were made. Thoy are so hnportant that it is diftlcult to understand why the an nexation^is not Insisted upon at once.

Harvey dpes not want to be tried in Na.ssau becau.sc ho claims hc cannot get fair treatment here. He's right, we have not had a fair day in a helluva while.
Wo do not say who did it, but in •omo way tho Town Board of Hemp¬ stead was Influenced to vote to put the bus lines In the rcBponslble class. They may not operate In Hempstead town without complying with laws which safeguard the rights of tho public. Thoy must comply with Public Service Com¬ mission rulings. It means that only responsible manafjcrs will run buses in tho town hereafter. It should be good tor tho bus linos .as '^Well as for the traveling public.
This means, too, that trolley lines operated within the township will havo a living chance. Tho trolley manage¬ ment has laid much of Its linancial trouble to irresponsible, unfair bua line opposition. With this condition changed tho trolley company will have a fair chance. It may well be expected to make ko(k1 and to give its patrons much better service thatt has been of¬ fered during the twelve months just passed.
Doubtless we shall have well-man acred bus lines In tho town doing good business and serving tho public well. Wo should, and probably shall have good trolley service, to the benetit of all concerned. Tho town as a whole and tho villages touched by bus or trolly lines In particular will surely be benefited. Wu can well congratulate the Town Board and thu truatets of thoso Incorporated vlllajfOH which have adopted the new rulhigs upon their progrcssivcnosH.
As said before, wc do not say who brought this about, but it was the first improvement advocated by The Dally Review and It ha» lieen promoted With many columns of space during the last three months. So j wo are glad, very glad, and feel sure Tho DaUy Re¬ view's elTort was well directed. » lO ¦

Our friends In Long Beach West are showing much progreseiveness. Thof have arranged for a bus line to run to Rockville Centre, beginning next week, and they have arranged to get street lights. Evidently a good place to look for more- progress.
