Freeport, May 10.—The annual dance and dinner of the Freeport Club was held at the club house Saturday even¬ ing. It was frame<l in a setting of beautiful flowers and gowns, and pretty girls.
The walls of the ballroom were cov¬ ered with lilacs and carnations and col ored crepe paper. The flowers fllled the room with a fragiance that w.is typical of springtime.
Separate tables lined the hall, and at tlie witching hour, a delicate buffet sup per was .served by a corps of efflcient waiters. Following the supper there WHH dancing. The music was by Johnny fJermeroth's orchestra.
Many of the girls were in evcnliy? gowns that, coupled with the colors of the decorations, made a beautiful pic¬ ture.
Some of those present were: Anna and Julia Clemert, Irene Murphy, Bea¬ trice and Cilady.s (iolden of Baldwin, Vi¬ ola Boland and Zoe Uauphinot, Kfliel Kuler and Evelyn Teeple.
Ed Nichols was responsible for the good eats that were enjoyed by the large crowd, and "Ed"" was ably assisted hy Saunders and Bill, who jazzed the trays around in up-to-date .ityle. Not only that, but they prepared them. A.s a proof of their excellence, not a .scrap was left. The orche.stra played "Hail lo the Chef"" as a tribute to the culi¬ nary skill.
The high price of carnations did not affect the club's entertainment commit¬ tee, which went ahead and had sevei«i for each table in the room. Altogether, it was a most successful evening.

Garden City, May 19.—A large and enthusiastic gallery watched tho Field I>oy sports at the Public School Mon¬ day afternoon. The children of the -Ith, 6th, sth, 7th and Sth grades partici¬ pated. The cup for the greatest num¬ ber of points wfnt to the 7^th grade.
