IN I'KRIL AGAIN
the
:;Bishop Burgess, in his address t Episcopal Convention .fust held at Gar¬ den • Clly, calls the i!iode\n tendency to divorce the i>erll of the nalioii.
He likens fhe modern way of living io that which pi'Ocedod the fall ot Itomc. Maybe he is right, but every now and then comes the, statcmtmt that something or oilier is the jjcril of the nation. One distinguished ncw.s¬ paper owner, the largest individual owner in the world, sees in the .lap influx und growth Uic "peril of the
UUti9II."
Not so long .since we were all lold that the peril of tho nation was the tendency to strong drink. Of course, •with that eliminated, we must have a new "perR." The good, bishop sees It in the tendency to divorce or Ihe easy way to divorce.
As said, ntaybo the bishop is right, but latterly wo have heard that the peoi)le uro better than ever before. If ¦ that is so then out; fall is not fore¬ told by any current events whether in divorce courts or otherwise.
Just after the wui^ ended we were told tho world had sllpitod back a lot and that jicople were not so good os they once were. Then someone dis¬ covered tluit we had been cleansed by the fire and upheaval of war and we lu:o all better.
Grant us. Bishop, that wo arc what 'Wtt arc, what we make ourselvet) from day lo day, that we are no better and uo worse lliuii w'e want to be. In tho vuwai'd march uf eivlllaution has not huiuaailly gained a jmlnt l>eyond those folk who brought about the full of ^omC'
Twice within a fortnight advertise¬ ments of real estate sales inserted in The Daily Review have betn followed by disposal of the property concern¬ ed. In one case the advert isenieut had to be discontinued before tho expiration of the contract as all the lots had been sold.
There is a reason why this adver¬ tising was particularly effective, quite apart from the present inter¬ est in cstabHuhing liomes on Long Is¬ land. Briefly that reason is that The Daily Ueview has established the fact that it is in touch with affairs in Nassau County. People wishing to know what is happening in the coun- ty havo learned that Tlie Daily Re-lfi-csh biale view is serving the public with prompt and accurate news service concerulng Nassau affairs.
That this holds true In the adver- ti.iiutf coluuius as well aa in the uews and editorial features Is also real¬ ized. The sales just instanced prove that.

GUARDING PARKED MOTOR CARS
neccnt thefts of tires and other tittings from automohlles parked in public highways within Incorporated villages in Nassau Counly indicate something lacking iu the matter of police protection.
We do not undertake to say Just what the trouble is, whether it means insuflicient police force, or misdi¬ rected efforts on the part of the peace guardians. T^ fact remains that patrons of theatres and stores who Jiave left their motor cars parked in public highways have auffered l()^acf<' which would, not have occurred had the local police been about.
In some instances thefts have oc¬ curred while theatre patrons had loft their cars parked near theatres. The village that provides uniformed protection tor such parked cars may be doing mure than it is required to do, hut it surely will win the grati¬ tude nnd goodwill of thu motoring public.
