WHERE WOMEN WORKED
The one strong point brought out in tbs several vUlage elections In Nassau Omintr this week Is the fact that In local even more than Jn general elec¬ tions women are accepting the oppor¬ tunity to express their opinions.
Apparently there was no particular desirei to change the course of any of the village elections so far as the vll- la^re officers were cont^erned. As to President and trustees the women were ready to follow the ticket as regularly prepared.
Where the womon did become asser¬ tive, however, was In the matter of ap¬ propriations. It Is notewoiHhy that In those vlllBges where proposition^ wore passed to pay tho coSt of needed Im¬ provements women had been, working hardest.

Thl,s amends the law so as to "regulate the use of any vil¬ lage dock and to prohibit or license the sale of goods of any description thereon or from boats by the s'de of such dock."
This stirs the imagination.
In years long past we knew of cer¬ tain village docks whereon were long low buildings In which wore long ma¬ hogany counters with long brass rails about ankle-high, running close and parallel with the counters—only that Isn't what they were called then.
Is it something like this that the As¬ semblyman wants to control, or similar trade from a craft tied alongside?
Probably not.

At tbe Town Hall last Monday eve¬ ning, two eminent artists Joined forces for an unusual program of music. Ossip Oabrilo-witsch and Alexander SchmuUer brought their respective powers as masters of the piano and violin to bear on a sonata e<u:h (rom Brahms and Beethoven. The 'violinist played also Bach's Cbaconne, and Mf, Qabrilowltscli offered Beethoven's Sonata bi D major. Opus 10. The qualities of the pianist are well known to New Tork audiences, but it seemed as though he showed new virtuosity by the brillianoe of his ensemble playing. Mr. Schmul- ler, who has made a profound im¬ pression by his appearances with or¬ chestra and with Conductor Mengel- berg at the piano, shov^ed again his deep musical conceptions and exhibited j anew his capacity for .laboring jointly. | Tho evening was a rich one, musically.
