An element of secrecy has surround¬ ed the cfase and It was reported that Mr. .Stillman had driven on stopping after hitting tho boy. This, however, Is readily denied by relatives of the young man when the report was made known to them.
Mr. Stillman was on his way from New york to the Oarden City Oolf Club, of which he Is a member, for a day's recreation. He was driving hi9 own car along the Hempstead turn¬ pike, when another car came from a Kidie road, turning well into the middle of the turnpike. In order to avoid a coiUslon. -Mr. Rtillman threw on his brakes hard an'd his car inkldded to tho side of the road toward the street car trackc, striking young Rath, who waa standing beside the road.
