"Chief" Jack Dobson of the Alerts. Rockville Centre, did not have his "kid¬ die car" out last night. Dr. Pettit diag¬ nosed the case as gus-tritis. The "chief" removed tiie inner tubes and left it In solitude. The Alerts practiced just the same without It.
It has been announced that the Eure¬ ka Hook & Ladder Company and the Eureka Band of Rockvilie Centre have decided to postpone the date of their carnival indefinitely. A full explana¬ tion will soon be forthcoming.
Chief Waterman again wishes to call attention to the fact that much depends on the number of members of the Rock¬ ville Centre Flre Department who at¬ tend the tournament at Port Washing¬ ton Thursday. Those who are to go must be at Alert Company quarters ^t 8 a. m. Motor trucks will convey the members to the tournament.
Salmander Hook and Ladder Company and Ocean Side Hose Company, both of which have new apparatus, are practic¬ ing haCrd for the tournament. These boys believe they will be able to bring home the "bacon." Tbey had been pre¬ vented from entering heretofore because of the antiquated apparatus. Now that they have modern equipment they're full of pep.
Chief Waterman of Rocktrille Centre after hia visits at the flre houses has tteen wearing the "smile that won't come off." The trtjicks are in prime con¬ dition for the toui'iiament at the "Port" Thursday. The boys told him they were piepared to deait' up. Here's hoping they'll do aa they think they can.
Twenty-nine pairs of leather lunga wlil puff and blow on twenty-nine in¬ struments when Eureka Band appears in the tournament parade at the head ot the column. RookvtHe Centre will have & raal braaa band to keep them in step. I
