Chiefs K& ep Winning
To Stay In Second Place
Massapequa High chalked up
three baseball wins this past
week to give the Chiefs a 6- 2
record and second place in league
action.
Coach Pete Michel's squad
posted a pair of impressive wins
over Lawrence by scores of 9- 1
and 9- 7 and added an 8- 3 triumph
over Sewanhaka.
In the 9- 1 win pitcher Joe Gray
struck out 12 and allowed only
two hits as Andy Laurits and Bob
Herman went 2 for 4.
Pitcher Kevin Bellew came in
with two out and the bases full to
register a strikeout to give Richie
Gruenthal the win in the 9- 7
victory over Lawrence. Andy
Laurits had a 3 for 4 effort while
Jim Ambrosio and Jack Lloyd
each drove in three runs.
Joe Gray scattered four hits
and fanned eight to give the C hief' s
the 8- 3 win over Sewanhaka.
In non league play last Saturday
Kevin Long of Berner tossed a
no- hitter against Massapequa in
a 1- 0 win.
This Saturday the Chiefs will
tackle Chaminade at 8 p. m. at
Salisbury Park in a non- league,
followed by games on Tuesday
and Wednesday against Central in
a home and away series.
Dalers Win Three Games
To Take Second Place
Farmlngdale High posted a pair
of wins over Syosset this week
by scores of 10- 6 and 5- 1.
Glenn Marshall was the winner
in the 10- 6 win after Jack
Lazarus had pitched the first
four innings. A three run home
run by Tommy Ball was the
clincher as it broke a 5- 5 tie.
Harvey Beckwith pitched a two-hitter
to get his fourth win in
the 5- 1 game. Jim Dinielli had
two runs batted in to lead the
attack.
In a new league game last Friday,
the Dalers lost to Glen
Cove by a 6- 0 score.
The Dalers also posted a second
win over Herricks 8- 7 last
Thursday with Jack Lazarus the
winning pitcher.
Coach Joe Ruggiero's team
is now 8- 3 overallf
On Tuesday and Wednesday*
the Dalers take on Plainedge
next Tuesday and Wednesday in
a home and away series.
Daler Golfers
Win Tournament
Farmingdale High golfers posted
a 9- 0 victory over Plainview
Kennedy in the Dalers league
opener in North Shore Division
One.
Coach Pete Nistad's golfers
also won Annual Lindenhurst Invitation
tournament at Bethpage
State Park. Finishing behind Farmingdale
were Chaminade,
Southside, Lindenhurst, Walt
Whitman, Bayside, Plainview and
Com mack.
In individual play Bob Donaldson
finished fourth and Alan A-bramson
fifth.
The squad is made up of Abram-son,
Donaldson, John Hay, Drew
Casen, Ed Oelerich and Chris
Goulding.
Also ready to step into action
are Mike Taylor, Steve'Anderson,
Steve Jacobs, and Michael Archer.
McElroy Wins

Coach Don Lang's Berner
baseball team beat Uniondale in
one league action by a 4- 0 score
with Jim Highes and Tom Melo
sharing the mound duties.
In another non league game,
Kevin Long tossed a no- hitter a-gainst
Massapequa High last Saturday.
The hard- fought contest
between the neighborhood rivals
was won on an unearned run as the
result of an error.
The Bisons, who had lost only
to Calhoun in league action
met the same fate last Friday
when they dropped a 5- 1 decision
in eight innings to the front
runners. Bruce Bruner went all
the way and allowed only four
hits.
Berner will play Lindenhurst
at home this Friday at 4 p. m.
followed by a home and away
series with Kennedy next Tuesday
and Wednesday.

Relays held in Philadelphia last
Friday. McElroy ran the mile in
4: 15.3.
The Chiefs also won three
events at the New York Relays
held at Randalls Island last Friday.
The sprint medley relay team
took top honors with a 3: 33 time*
Mike Maguire, Barry Goldwas-ser,
Steve McLoughlin and Brian
McElroy each received a wrist
watch as well as a plaque.
The Chiefs garnered the two-mile
relay with a time of 8: 15.6
which earned them a school plaque
and gold medals. Bill Heagney,
Bruce Sentoff, Tom Wright and
Bruce Cross performed in the
event.
The one mile relay was also
won by Massapequa. Bill Bura,
Tom Fitgzibbons, Doug Koch and
Ken Golden were timed at 3: 35.3.

A charge of $ 25.00 dollars will

plans, specifications, proposal
sheet and form of contract to
be made payable to the Town of
Oyster Bay. This amount will be
refunded to those who return the
plans, specifications, etc., in
good condition within 30 days of
the award of contract or rejection
of all bids.
Plans and specifications may
be seen at or procured from the
Office of the Town Clerk, Town
Hall, Town of Oyster Bay, New
York, 9: 00 A. M.. to 4: 45 P. M.,
Monday through Friday.
Each proposal must be accompanied
by either a certified
check on a solvent bank or trust
company, or bid bond from a
surety company acceptable to the
Town, in an amount equal to not
less than five ( 5%) percent of
the amount bid, made payable
to the Town of Oyster Bay as
assurance mat the contract will
be executed if awarded to such
bidder.
The Contractor will be required
to comply with all the
provisions of die Labor Laws of
the State of New York; the provisions
of Section 103- D of the
General Municipal Law, the provisions
of Section 139- D of the
State Finance Law, the provisions
of Section 2604 of the Public
Authorities Law, as amended
by Chapter 751 of the Laws of
1965.
The Town Board reserves the
right to reject any and all bids
in whole or in part, to waive
any informailty in any or all
bids and to accept die bid or
part thereof which it deems most
favorable to the Town after all
bids have been examined and
checked. No bid shall be withdrawn
for a period of 45 days
after being publicly opened and
read.
In the event bids are rejected
or no bids are received, the Town
Clerk is authorized to readver-tise
for bids upon direction of die

Chiefs Win Pair
Of Lacrosse Games
Massapequa High won a pair of
lacrosse games beating Baldwin
14- 0 and Freeport by a 10- 4
score.
John Nagle, Mike Durham and
Kevin Cleere scored three goals
each and Stephen Russo had one
goal and six assists in the Baldwin
game.
Russo also had four assists in
the Freeport win. John Nagle,
Craig Clancy, Kevin Cleere and
Steve McDonald each scored twice.
The team is now 3- 2 in league
action.
