Librarian Wins Fellowship
Mrs. Anne Zusselman, a l i brarian
at the Main Street School,
Farmingdale, has been honored
with a $ 500 P. T. A. Teacher Fellowship
for summer graduate
study. Mrs. Zusselman received
her M. S. degree from New
York State University at Oneonta.
Prior to coming to Farmingdale,
she worked in M i d d l e b u r g,
Fleischmann, and South Huntington,
New York. Her husband is
a Chemistry teacher and was
selected at- " Nassau County
Science Teacher of the Year"
in 1967. They have a daughter
who is a National Merit finalist,
and two other children ages 15
and 11.
Hold Campaign Launching
Dinner For Paul Tilford
A Campaign Launching Dinner
was held last Sunday evening at
the Marcpiere Restaurant for
Paul Tilford, Incumbent Farmingdale
Library Board Candidate
seeking re- election.
The dinner, sponsored by the
Committee for the re- election
of Paul Tilford, was attended by
prominent leaders in the Farmingdale
community whopaidtrib-ute
to Tilford who has been active
in community affairs during his
13 year residence in this area.
College Receives $ 83,023
Dr. Charles W. Laffin, president
of State University Agricultural
and Technical College, announced
that three grants totaling
$ 83,023, have been awarded to
the Farmingdale school. The
funds come from the Vocational
Education Act to strenghten or
support curriculum development.
According to the announcement,
the grants are in Biology,
$ 28,934; Construction Technology,
$ 24,927, and Secretarial Science,
$ 29,162.
The Biology Department will
use its grant to support medical
laboratory technical. Students in
this curriculum will serve the
medical profession, government,
laboratory facilities and industry.
The Construction Technology
grant will be used for the purchase
of photogrammetric equipment.
These instruments will
be incorporated in the curriculum
for aerial photographic applications
to identify soils and
determine water " run off" in
the study of Hydrology.
The grant for Secretarial Science
will support the purchase
of typewriters and office machines.
This equipment will make
it possible to develop an additional
typing station within the
Secretarial Science Department.
Northside Art Students
Enter Dental Poster Contest
A group of intermediate art
students at Northside Elementary
School, have entered the poster
contest sponsored by the Tenth
District of the New York State
Dental Society. The posters grew
out of the art department's participation
in the school's observance
of National Children's Dental
Health Week. Mrs. Mary- Calhoun,
the art instructor of the
class announced that the following

Full Week
Of Activities
The Methodist Church of Farmingdale
announced the following
activities for the coming week.
" Keep the Faith" will be the
sermon topic of the Rev. Kenneth
E. Hoover on Sunday, March
31 at 9: 30 and 11 a. m.
An old- fashioned hymn sing is
planned for Sunday, March 31 at
7 p. m. led by Herb Hucke. Mrs.
Cedric Larson will accompany on
the organ.
New members will be received
in the Fellowship program on Sunday,
April 7 at 11 a. m. Palms
will be distributed at all services.
The Rev. Avery Manchester
will speak on the new religions in
Japan and show slides of his work
as a missionary on Tuesday,
April 2 at 10 a. m.

Group for orientation will be held
on Sunday, March 31 at 3: 30p. m.
The Senior High Methodist
Youth Fellowship will meet on
Sunday, March 31 and discuss
' Money Matters'.

CAP Adds
New Members
The ranks of Nassau Composite
Squadron Five, Civil Air Patrol
have enlarged this past month
with the addition of several senior
and cadet members from this
area. The local unit meeting
in Howitt Junior High School
on Thursday evenings from 7: 30
to 10: 00 p. m. welcomes all interested
teen- agers and adults
who want further information
about the C. A. P. program.
New members welcomed as
cadets include Dana Dye, Gregory
Simonetti, Chris Simonetti
and Robert Wanzelak, all of
Farmingdale. Senior members

The Seniors of the Month at Farmingdale Senior High School are
Carol Kraus, left, and Deborah Silverman, right. Carol is a member
of the Future Secretaries Club, the Ski Club, and is secretary of the
school discipline office. She is also an executive council member
of the Senior Class, and has served on the Student Council. Deborah
is a member of the National Honor Society, and is founder and
president of the Medical Careers Club. She is also a member of
the science club, the Lab Squad, the Green Room Players, and is
on the literary staff of the yearbook, Hi- Life.

Church for Mildred Minutolo, 63,
of 130 Beechwood Street, Farmingdale,
who passed away last
Friday.

and brothers, Peter, John, Paul
and Charles Ganci.

Avenue, Pinelawn passed away
on Tuesday of this week.
The deceased was the husband

Michael F. DeVito, leading
representative on the staff of
Metropolitan Life Insurance
