June Sullivan Elected VAC Head
June Sullivan of West Oak
Street, Farmingdale was elected
President of the Vietnam Assistance
Committee of Farming-dale
on Monday night at a meeting
held at the Albany Avenue
School. She took over the gavel
from outgoing President Al
Lamphere.
Other officers elected were:
Jeanne Thompson, Vice President;
Ruth Leimon, Treasurer,
Gayle Barlow, Recording Secretary
and Eileen Mohan, Corresponding
Secretary.
Recently, VAC has started
mailing packages to Farmingdale
boys serving in Vietnam in addition
to the support given a^ my
adopted units.
Letters of appreciation from
Farmingdale servicemen which
have encouraged the group contain
such statements as:

resident especially when I
know my community is concerned
about me serving in Viet Nam."

thought and it made me feel part

The Annual Installation Ceremony
of officers in the Farming-dale
Jewish Center will be held
Saturday evening, June 8 at 9: 15
P. m. with Assemblyman Martin
Ginsberg as installing officer,
Dr. Sidney Marks, former National
Executive Director of the
Zionist Organization of America
will be the guest speaker.
Officers to be installed include
Mrs. Stanley Schlanger as
President of Sisterhood; Murray
Steckman, President of the Men's
Club; Louis Koshar as President
of the Couples Club. Aron
Schaeffer will be installed for
his second term as President
of the Congregation. Elected to
the Board of Trustee's are Joseph
Stern, Max Marcus, Anita
Fishman, Dr. Murray Neustad-ter,
Murray Frost and Gerald
Price.
The ceremony will be the first
major social program planned
in the new addition to the Farmingdale
Jewish Center located
at 425 Fulton Street.
Mulligan, Speech Teacher,
To Receive Doctors Degree
Alexander R. Mulligan of
Farnrngdale, a Speech Teacher
in the Plainview - Old Bethpage
Public Schools since 1958, will
be awarded his Doctor of Education
degree this Sunday at the
Commencement Ceremony at St„
John's University.
Mulligan a graduate of Northwestern
University, where he
earned his Bachelor of Music
Education, and Master of Arts
degrees in the field of Music,
Speech, and Education, started
his doctoral program at St.
John's University, The School
of Education, in July, 1960.
During the eight years of his
Doctorate Program he was a
Speech Therapist in the Public
Schools of Plainview - Old Bethpage;
Adjunct Professor of Public
Speaking at Nassau Community
College, and during his
sabbatical leave year he was a-warded
a Teaching Fellowship
at St. John's University.
His research project for his
doctor's degree was in the newer
field of Pupil Personnel Services.
Through his research endeavors,
Mulligan devised and
applied an Evaluative Instrument
to judge the organization and administration
of Pupil Personnel
Services departments in public
schools.
In addition to public school and
c o l l e g e teaching, Mulligan
through his innovative programs
has pioneered in the field of
creative thinking with programs
for gifted children. He was a
selected member of the Creative
Problems Solving Institute of the
University of the State of New
York at Buffalo, for two summers.
Mulligan's plans now include
the establishment of a Creative
Communication Center in Farmingdale
which will sponsor programs
of imaginative thinking
on a wide scale in Education,
Industry, and Religion. He lives
at 7 Dolphin Drive, Farming-dale,
with his wife Eloise, and
three sons, John, David and A lex.
Youngster Killed
Alan Lazarus, age 15, of 58
Lockwood Avenue, South Farmingdale
was killed by a Town
of Oyster Bay garbage truck while
riding his bicycle on Wednesday
afternoon at 4: 15 p. m. at Main
Street and Carman Road.
Sorrow over the tragic accident
had been expressed by District 22
Board President Mrs. Lucille
Goulding at Wednesday night's
Board meeting.
Church Group
Seeks Stamps
The Choirs of St. Thomas'
Episcopal Church, Farmingdale,
have been saving Trading Stamp
Books with which they plan to obtain
a spinet piano for use at rehearsals.
The Choirs need 300
Plaid Books and have collected
260 books of various companies.
They seek the cooperation of
members of the community in
converting all of their books to
Plaid so that they might acquire
the piano. If, therefore, any
members of the community would
be willing to exchange their Plaid
Stamp Books for those of another
company on an equal basis, they
may call St. Thomas' Church, MY

Ginsberg To Be Honored
The Nassau County Academy
of Physical Therapy honored volunteer
legal advisor, Assemblyman
Martin Ginsberg at their
Annual Meeting and installation
of officers on Tuesday, at 7: 30
P. M. in Carl Hoppl's Westbury
Manor.
Officials of the Academy said
Assemblyman Ginsberg was
chosen to be honored for helping
in the formation of the organization
ten years ago as well
as for serving as legal counsel
to the group since its inception.
