Dalers Drop Pair As
Shooting Falls Below Par
Farmingdale High lost their
league opener at Syosset 63- 48
on what Coach Robert Mulligan
called poor shooting.
The Dalers trailed by a 30- 27
margin at the half but managed
only six points in the third quarter
to fall behind 48- 33 at the
third quarter mark.
In non- league action on Tuesday
at Glen Cove the Dalers
dropped a close 54- 51 encounter
after a 9- 2 first quarter and
37- 35 third quarter lead.
Dave Mableton was high man
in both games with 19 points.
Farmingdale, now 2- 4 overall
and 0- 1 league will host Plain-edge
at home this Friday at 8: 00

Bisons led most of the way in the

scored ten points.

to 2- 1 by easily defeating the Hot
Shots in the Teenage Basketball
League at Massapequa High 37- 7.
Jay Russ scored ten points and
Rich Wolpo eight points for the
winners.
The Idjits squeezedby the Pods
25- 17 in a contest tied 14- 14
at the half, and 16- 16 after three
quarters. In the final period,
Bill Bura controlled the boards
to get the Pods fast break into
high gear. Bill was the high
scorer with ten points. Jim
Vcelka had eight points for the
losers.
Sammy's Men overwhelmed the
smaller Sure Shots. The Sure
Shots made a game effort in the
fourth quarter scoring 22 points
of their total 38 points. The final
score was 46- 38 Tom Banks,
was the game high scorer with
18 points. Ricky Cherwin led the
losers with 11 points.

Building Contest
Snowman Building Contest will
be held at Wantagh County Park,
Wantagh, on Sunday, January 14.
The contest, beginning at 2 p. m.
is open to all Nassau residents
from school - age children through
adults. First, second and third
place awards will be presented

The Massapequa High School
Chiefs opened their South Shore
Section I league season at home
by defeating Baldwin High School
56- 49.
Coach Joe Mayer's Chiefs held
EJaldwin to 29 points during the
first three quarters. Baldwin then
engaged in a press and came within
five points.
The Pequans hit 44 percent
from the floor while Baldwin converted
28 percent of their field
attempts. Coach Mayer cited Barrett,
Bellew, Clancy, and Kelly
as the mainstays of a balanced
scoring attack.
On Tuesday, the Chiefs journeyed
to Oceanside and were
nipped by Oceanside by a 72- 67
score. The Pequans lead 18- 15
at the first quarter mark but
fell behind at the half 38- 30.
Bill Murphy was high with 28
points.
Coach Joe Mayer's lads who
are now 1- 1 in league and 3- 3
overall will play host to Lawrence
this Friday at 8: 30 p. m.
