we got to think of ourselves. We

railroad car with snow on
the ground, freezing and chilled
and worrying about how you were
going toget home? We surely need
someone in Albany who will
resolve our transportation problem^
. I don't care how you are
going to vote next Tuesday on the
other levels, but why don't you
pull that lever 21B for O'Donnell.

The formation of a new organization
called " The Society of the
Dashing Dan Long Island Railroad
Commuters for the Election
of Bill O'Donnell to the New York
State Assembly was discovered
this week by an early bird Observer
reporter who was down at
the Massapequa Park Railroad
station at 6 A. M. this Wednesday
morning.
" Why this has been going on for
weeks" said one LIRR commuter
by the name ofHarry Cohan, of 17
Harmony Drive told a reporter as
he gulped a hurried cup of coffee
at a coffee shop near the station,
" Where have you been?"
" Bill O'Donnell is an old friend
of ours. He's been down at this
railroad station four times during
the campaign. He's one of us. He
commutes to New York City, when
he's not campaigning, and he has a
plan to improve railroad conditions.
The man on his left, who said he
was Bob O'Hara of 139 Arthur
Street piped up: " Yes, We got to
have this O'Donnell represent us
in Albany - he knows how to negotiate
labor disputes - and he's got
a plan to eliminate 19 separate
bargaining unions and reduce
them to one bargaining unit. A lot
of problems today are labor ones,
we need a guy who knows them".
O'Donnell was graduated from the
Cornell School of Industrial and
Labor Relations.
" What we need is a commuter's
voice to represent our interests
on the Metropolitan Transit Authority
Board. Bill O'Donnell is a
fighting type of guy - He'll fight
for commuter representation".
Another one said that O'Don-nell's
position on the railroad
crisis that there should be a check
on management - meaning the
MTA Directors.
O'Donnell will insist on public
inspection of the mechanical
breakdowns, off- time arrivals
and equipment failures.
The reporter went over to the
Massapequa Railroad station and
found the same things going on.
Commuters were members of the
Society of the Dashing Dan for the
Election of William O'Donnell -
we were a little too late in getting
formed - we wanted to buy buttons
and one fellow even designed one.
With not quite enough time to
get to Farmingdale early in the
morning, we caught some of the
late commuters o They said the

the reelection ofFrancis- McClos-key
( R). " Not only is this incumbent's
record undistinguished,
but he is poorly informed on
legislative matters in which he
should be an expert. McCloskey
at the LT. Assn. Executive
Breakfast impressed attending
business men with his lack of
knowledge and understanding of
the Lottery; he had " no plan"
for solving the school tax crisis.''

the candidacy of William
C. O'Donnell ( D) in the 9th Ad
and the reelection of Assemblyman
Martin Ginsberg 0 0 in the
8th Ad, it was announced by
Stanley Feigenbaum, Chairman.
O'Donnell ENDORSEMENT
9th AD
Once in a while, there is that rare political
candidate who comes upon the horizon, who is
a bright star who can lead and inspire and solve
our problems. This year, voters in the 9th AD
have the privilege of voting for such a man, who is
so very much needed by our three school districts,
Farmingdale, Plainedge and Massapequa. He will
represent all of us in Albany, who are concerned
with the adequate and equitable financing of quality
public school education. This man is William G.
O'Donnell ( D). He is a man who can be admired
by Republicans and Democrats alike. He is dedicated
to finding a solution to our problem of spiral -
ing costs for education. He would spread the burden
on a much larger tax base with his plan. Without
O'Donnell in Albany, the chances that our school
budgets will be defeated is great. There is no real
money in the state budget this year to aid our local
schools in this crisis. Taxpayers are in no mood to
accept larger real estate property taxes. There is
a crisis in education we need O'Donnell in Albany to
help us.
O'Donnell the son of a New York City policeman
is an attorney. But before he studied law at
Fordham University, he received his BS at Cornell
University in New York State's School of Industrial
and Labor Relations. He is the man to fit these
times; his background is particulary fitting to the
problems in our area today.
We haven't had a man of this stature in The New
York State Assembly since the days of Edwin J.
Fehrenbach, who so well represented us in the
needs of our rapid growth era .
There is no need to even point out the inadequacies
of his opponent, Francis McCloskey
( R). He just hasn't the ability; the knowledge nor
the understanding of our issues. You just can't
compare a mere politician with a statesman.
O'Donnell's position on the railroad crisis will
benefit the commuter. He understands the problem
and offers a constructive solution.
O'Donnell's other opponent is Joseph B. Lam-berta(
C), a lawyer who seems to be an honest
Conservative.
Vote for the man and not the party label. O'Donnell
receives our most enthusiastic endorsement
of any candidate on the entire ballot on November
5.
