Chiefs, Bisons Romp; Dalers Squeak
Steve McDonald scored twice
on short bursts and once on a 16
yard pass to lead the Massapequa
High Chiefs to a 46- 0 romp over
Baldwin last Saturday in the season
opener at home.
Coach Lou Luba's lads scored
in every quarter to completely
dominate the game as McDonald
tallied twice in the first quarter
for a 14- 0 lead.
A Pat Olson to Phil Marino
pass was good for a 60 yard
score in the second period, followed
by a Tom Bried eleven
yard run for a 27- 0 halftime.
Bried scored again later in the
game and had 120 yards in 18
carries. Jeff Considine also tallied
from one yard out to round out
the scoring.
The Pequans gained 253 yards
rushing and 210 yards through the
air.
The Chiefs play Oceanside thi*
Saturday at home at 1: 30 p. m.
Coach Bill Brown's Berner
High squad made it 12 in a row by
defeating Calhoun 32- 7 away last
Saturday.
A 70 yard kickoff return by
Middendorf of Calhoun and a score
by Steve A rata for the Bisons resulted
in a 7- 7 first quarter score.
Berner then opened up with a
second quarter score by Alfred
Brown on a 25 yard run, followed
by third and fourth quarter scores
by Brown.
Coach Don Snyder's Farming-dale
High football team came from
behind a 7- 6 halftime deficit to
squeak by Great Neck North 19- 14
in a hard fought non- league clash
last Saturday at home.
The visitors scored early' for
a 7- 0 lead. A Steve Moltissanti
score for the Dalers was followed
by a missed conversion.
Dalers took a third quarter 12- 7
lead on a Steve Magid two yard
burst by the visitors came back
in the fourth period 14- 12 lead.
Co- captain Bill Waters ripped
off a ten yard run late in the game
for the clincher.
The Dalers will play host to
Herricks this Saturday at home
in a game slated for 1: 30 p. m.
Devils Bow
Neither Plainedge nor Syosset
could score a touchdown in their
Saturday encounter, but the visitors
pulled off a safety for a 2- 0
score to hand coach Frank Scic-chitano
his first Plainedge defeat
after a Calhoun win the previous
week.
This Saturday the Red Devils
will journey to MacArthur for a
1: 30 p. m. clash.
Mustangs Travelers Post Four Wins

Senior team defeated Levittown
24- 6, the Midgets defeated Levittown
35- 13 in Long Island Midget
Football League play and the
Junior Varsity crushed Man-hasset,
51- 13. In a non- league
game, the Pee Wees beat Fast
Islip 27- 0„
The Seniors' attack was led
by Tom Cheslak, who twice made
touchdowns on passes from Rich
Horner.
For the Midgets, Quarterback
Greg McGrath led the way, scoring
two touchdowns and passing
to Joe Diange for another.
The 11- year- old Jayvees
scored at will in beating Man-hasset.
John Goodwin made three
scores on short- yardage plays
and Tom Nagle scored three
times, once from the two and
again from the 37 and 38 yard
lines. Craig Keifer also scored
and Jack Reynolds intercepted a
pass an romped 56 yards to pay-dirt.
He also ran another interception
for 43 yards and Eddie
Coutu picked off another and
carried it 20 yards.
The Pee Wees rang up 218
yards rushing while holdingtheir
East Islip opponents to minus
ten yards from scrimmage. Kevin
Collins scored a pair of touchdowns,
Chuck Holton got another
and Art Pulsinelli went for a
score on a 48- yard pass play
from David Merles.
In the 9- 10 year- old Town
League, the Vikings continued
their winning ways, beating the
Raiders by a 20- 0 score. The
Giants smashed the Chargers,
48- 0, the Steelers edged the
Cardinals by a 6- 0 score, and the
Jets topped the Packers, 21- 0.
The Redskins rolled to a 28- 6
win over the Dolphins; the Eagles
squeezed by the Bears, 7- 6, and
the Lions and Falcons fought to a
6- 6 tie in 11- 12 year- old Town
League games.
There will be four 9- 10Town
League games this Saturday at
John J. Burns Park. The Pee
Wees play at Syosset Sunday and
the Midgets meet Hempstead
away. The Junior Varsity plays
Port Washington at home and
the Seniors play Plainview away.
Three 11- 12 Town League games
will also be played at Burns Park.
Aggies Slate 60 Athletic Contest
A record total of 60 contests,
not including regional championships,
has been arranged for five
Fall and Winter athletic teams at
State University at Farmingdale.
The basketball team faces the
most number of opponents, 22;
cross- country with 11, soccer
and wrestling with ten each and
bowling, seven. 28 of the events
will be away from home.
According to Watt, highlighting
the schedule is the staging
of three regional title competitions
on the Farmingdale campus.
The Region XV cross- country
championships, involving junior
colleges from Long Island, New
York City, Connecticut, Rockland,
Ulster, Orange and Westchester
Counties, will take place
on the Aggies' course on November
9. The winning outfit will
participate in the National Jr.
College A. A. title race in< Haskell,
Kansas, one week later.
The other regional championships
to be hosted by the Aggies
are in basketball, marking the
first tiim that the National Junior
m? ets are to take place at Farmingdale.
From February 28 -
March 1, the Region XV quintets
will vie for the coveted title and
the right to meet the winner of
Region XIX, composed of Maryland,
Pennsylvania, Delaware and
New Jersey, one week later also
at Farmingdale's Roosevelt gymnasium.
From this inter- regional
playoff will come the quintet
eligible to seek the National
junior College A. A. crown at
Hutchinson, Kansas. March 8th.
The soccer team, with Coach

2- year college mentors in this
sport, opened its camijaignwitha

Tech, then bowed to Staten Island
C. C., 5- 2, is to face Maritime
next Wednesday, and Queensbor-ough

opens the campaign, October 26,
with a Paumonok test against
Suffolk C. C. at home. Coach
Hartman's grapplers start their
wrestling season, Dec. 17, also
in Paumonok clash with Suffolk at
Selden.
St. Rose Tigers Sweep Three Games
The St. Rose of Lima " C"
football team trounced Holy Family
by a 26- 0 score. Mark Bross
scored twice while Bill Bodkin
and Craig O'Keefe both scored
once. Mark Bross scored an 80
yard dash.
The JayVees stopped St. Ignatius
of Hicksville 13- 6. John
Regruto intercepted a pass and
ran it 15 yards for a score.
Jerry Trantacosta scored the
second touchdown.
The Varsity whipped St. Ignatius
of Hicksville 26- 7 on Sunday
at Massapequa High Field.

Charged With Harassment
Patrolman Walter Strain of the
S e v e n t h Precinct arrested
Granger Maher, 20, of 5 Cedar
Place, Massapequa Park, John
A. Dunn, 19, Ronald Chichester,
21, and Fdward Cafferty, 28, all
of Amityville and charged them
with harassment and disorderly
conduct. Cafferty was also
charged with a previous red light
traffic infraction on which he
refused to appear in court.
Maher and Cafferty pleaded not
guilty and trial was set for November
21. Chichester and Dunn
were to have been arraigned thi
week.

Town Ice Hockey Program
Ready To Get Underway
Registration for the Oyster
Bay Town recreation department
ice hockey league for boys
ten to 18 years of age will be
held on Monday, October 14 from
8 to 10 p. m. at the Massapequa
High School for boys residing in
the Massapequa and Farmingdale
school districts and on Tuesday,
October 15 from 8 to 10 p. nu
for boys residing in the Plain-edge
and Bethpage School districts.
Late registration will be held
on Saturday, October 19, from 10
a. m. to 11: 30 p. m. at each of the
town's ice skating rinks.
The players will receive instruction
during practice and
clinic sessions which are held
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
evenings from 6 p. m. to 10
p. m.
A special " Pee Wee" league
for boys between the ages of 6
and 10 will start November 14 and
will be held regularly on Thursday
evenings from 6: 30 to 8 p. m «
The basic hockey fundamentals
will be stressed in this program
which is designed to prepare
boys for the regular town ice
hockey league.
The Tobay Americans, consisting
of the better players between
12 and 14 years old, will
begin a home series with other
communities in mid November.
The players will be selected by a
panel of town ice hockey officials
and coaches.
The Tobay Gulls, the town's
senior hockey team consisting of
players between the ages of 16
and 20, are entered into the
Queens- Nassau league and will
play home games in New Hyde
Park on Saturday and Sunday
mornings.

Boosters Club, a newly organized
group of parents interested in

Meetings will be held on Tuesday

The Mill Lane football team
defeated Hicksville on Friday by
a 38- 7, score with Jerome Williams
scoring five touchdowns.
Williams, whom Coach Ed Bal-boni
refers to as " the finest
football player I've seen in Farmingdale
since I arrived here 12
years ago," scored on runs of
80, 62, 50, 42, and two yard
runs.
Dick Finn scored the remaining
touchdown on a fine 65 yard
jaunt in the third quarter.
