Spot Shots On Sports
The Massapequa Aces, led
by the DeMaio brothers,
swamped the Bethpage
Ducks, 9- 1, in the opening
game of the Oyster Bay
Town Recreation Department's
third hockey season.
Tony DeMaio banged in
three goals for the hat
trick while his brother
Frank smacked one into the
nets and was credited with
three assists.
In other league play, the
Massapequa Maple Leafs
knocked off the Bethpage
Bruins, 8- 0, and the Syosset
Rangers, 5- 2, to jump to
an early lead in the Senior A
division.
The Bethpage Rovers
nipped the Massapequa
Blades, 3- 2; the Bethpage
Blues bombed the Syosset
Red Wings, 10- 2; and the
Syosset Blackhawks edged
the Massapequa Kings, 2- 1.
In the only standoff of the
opening series of games, the
Massapequa Rockets and
the Syosset Comets played a
3- 3 tie; the Bethpage Flyers
destroyed the Massapequa
Rockets, 10- 1; the Syosset
Hornets beat the Bethpage
North Stars, 8- 1; and the
Syosset Seals belted the
Syosset Barons, 10- 1.
Hockey games are played
every Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday night at the
Bethpage, Syosset- Woodbury
and Marjorie R. Post, Massapequa,
ice rinks from
6: 30 to 8: 30 p. m.
and Mrs. William M. Andersen,
65 Westwood Road
North, Massapequa, are members
of the wrestling team
at State University College,
Oneonta\ New York.
Selnick is a graduate of
Plainedge High School, and
Andersen a graduate of
A. G. Berner High School.
The Massapequa High
School and the Berner High
School Dad's Clubs will
sponsor the Annual Alumni
Basektball Game on Monday,
December 30 at 8: 30
p. m. at the Berner High
School gym. The game originated
as a social activity
for returning alumni of both
high schools and has continued
as an annual get-together
when old acquaintances
were renewed during
the holiday season.
Performing in the basketball
^ contest will be Berner
high school standouts: Drew
Roger, John Theofanis,
Doug Dixon, Robert Nelson
and Joe DiDonato.
Massapequa High School
participants will include: Joe
Fromich, Bob Kennedy,
Harold Nelson, Bill Molloy,
Fred Brau, Dan Furman,
Dennis Tierney, Jim Kelly
and Jim Russell.
Additional players are
expected to be added to the
rosters.

Drive, Massapequa; and
Robert Andersen, son of Mr.

ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
ON DOCTOR
Angelo Castalello, 71, of 30
Birch Avenue, Farming-dale,
was arrested and
charged with second degree
assault with a pocket knife
on Dr. Benjamin Ginivaro at
137 Main Street, Farming-dale.
Ginivaro was treated at
Mid- Island Hospital and discharged.

The boards, available for
use by County residents
free of charge, are located
at the Cantiague Park rink,
Hicksville, Grant Park rink,
Hewlett and at Christopher
Morley Park rink in Roslyn-
North Hills.
Anyone wishing to sell or
exchange a pair of skates
may fill out a card and have
it posted on the board. The
cards will remain up for a
period of two weeks or until
the advertiser notifies rink
personnel that the skates
have been sold or exchanged.
Those who wish to use the
boards and not skate will not
be charged rink admission.
