Outlines Monthly Programs
The Massapequa Park Unit of
the Nassau County Extension
Service will hold their monthly
meeting on Thursday, April 6,
at 11: 30 a. m., St. David's Lutheran
Church.
The month of April will feature
a dessert exchange and
members are encouraged to bring
a serving of their favorite dessert.
The courses to be offered for
the month include * ' Advance Knitting"
by Mrs. Teddy Sherman.
" The Versatile Egg" by Mrs.
Wm. Grant and Mrs. K. Combes.
" Techniques in Sewing On Bonded
Fabrics" by Mrs. Raymond
Bruno and Mrs. Anthony Manning
" On Stretch Fabrics" by
Mrs. J\ R. Robinson and Mrs.
John Vasta, " On Knitted Fabr
i c s " by Mrs. Albert Spruck and
Mrs. Vincent Onorato, Refinish-ing
and Painting Furniture by
Mrs. K. D. Drummond and Mrs.
Charles Breen.
Police Conduct
Traffic Seminar
Nassau Police Commissioner
Francis B. Looney announced a
Traffic Seminar will be conducted
by county police in conjunction
with the Department of Motor
Vehicles at 10 a. m. on Thursday,
April 13, at police headquarters,
Mineola.
The Commissioner of Motor
Vehicles, Vincent L. Tofany and
Nassau District Director of
Motor Vehicles, Lawrence Epstein,
will be present along with
panelists Joseph Donovan, Associate
Attorney; Samuel Mills,
Director of Systems Planning
and Data Processing, and James
R. Barrett, New York State Motor
Vehicle Director of Driver Safety.
All county police administrative
and command officers will
attend the seminar. Local police
department chiefs and their immediate
assistants have been invited.
The panelists will discuss
changes in the Vehicle and Traffic
Law, data processing innovations,
and cooperation between
the Department of Motor Vehicles
and law enforcement agencies.
This is one of a series of
seminars sponsored by the county
police to improve law enforcement
in the county.
Heaps of hats were modeled and offered for sale
at the " Hat Fashion Show", a fund raising affair
run by the Massapequa Mustangs Mother's Club.
About 100 women attended the coffee and cake affair
at Ziegies Restaurant. Shown modeling and viewing
hats are L to R Dee Reynolds, Marlene Sella,
Mary Luchsinger, Lee Brown and Jean Williams.

observes the first of the weekly sessions held at the park's office
every Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m. to permit taxpayers to present
their problems without the inconvenience of going to Town Hall
during the daytime. Other councilmen hold similar sessions in
other Town communities.
Ready Contest For Fishermen
The Eighth Annual Jones
Beach, Captree, and Robert Moses
State Parks Fishing Contest
will open on April 1. Contest rules
and entry forms will be available
on April 1 at the official weigh-in
stations at Jones Beach, Cap-tree,
and Oak Beach. Monthly a-wards
will be presented.
Entries must be caught between
Jones Inletand the easterly limits
of Robert Moses State Park or
from boats berthed at Captree
and Jones Beach State Parks.
