The first White Funeral Home was established in New York City on Greene Street
by John J. White. His son Francis A. White, Sr , moved to A m i t y v i l l e , and began
his business in 1879. The enterprise continued under the operation of Francis A
White, Jr. and Arthur F. White. The Funeral Home in A m i t y v i l l e was discontinued
on the death of Francis A. White In 1923 the business was established by Arthur
F. White at the Mahlon E. Smith Building, 356 Conklin Street, Farmingdale, next
to the present library building The business continued at this address until 1929
when the Methodist Parsonage was purchased In 1935 the first addition was
made to this building. In 1946 a branch was opened at 234 Broadway, Bethpage.
in 1954, 1960 and 1967 new additions were added to the main office in Farmingdale
Present personnel include: Arthur F. White, President; Martha M. White, Vice
President; Gerald M. Williams, Secretary and Robert A. White, Treasurer.
