Robbed Of Rare Coins, Stamps Several Robberies Reported To Eighth Precinct
Mrs. Asta Schmidt of 77 Nelson
Street, Farmingdale, a
widowed school teacher was robbed
of $ 1,000 in rare stamps and
coins in her home, according to
police.
Mrs. Schmidt, a coin and stamp
dealer told police that a well
dressed man and woman, posing
as coin collectors held her up
in her home. She was forced into
a bedroom and handcuffed after
the man pulled a revolver and
shouted: " Where's the stuff?"
Her son who found her notified
police.

Avenue with a loss of $ 5 in
United States currency missing.

Syosset Theatre last Wednesday.
Karen and Kevin Harmon exhibited
their skill in a swimming
competition sponsored by the
Long Island Park Commission at
Heckshire State Park. Karen,
age 12, took first place in a
free swim. Kevin, age 10, took
third place in a free style event.

Crafts exhibits were held at the

Richard James Verdi, son of
Mr. and Mrs. James Verdi of
107 Plitt Ave., Farmingdale, has
joined Eastern Airlines as flight
officer and has successfully completed
intensive training at Eastern's
Flight Crew Training Center
at Miami, Florida.
Verdi graduate from Eastern
Military High School, in Huntington
and Hofstra University.
Prior to joining Eastern, he was
employed in Amityville, where he
first learned to fly in 1962.
William E. Michelfelder, New York Telephone's business office
manager for this area, has ended a 40- year career with the
company. Michelfelder retired last Friday after serving in
Commercial and Sales Department positions throughout Long
Island and more recently the Levittown office manager which
handles the communications needs of 41,000 residential and business
customers in the Levittown and Farmingdale areas.
" In am looking forward to becoming even more active in community
affairs," Michelfelder said. " My wife, Marion, and I
will be moving shortly to a home in Callicoon, New York, where
we have spent many enjoyable vacations. Cur friends up there
have been busy lining up projects for me."
