Mr. and Mrs. Heinz Riedrich
of 221 Cherry St., Farmingdale,

their daughter Patricia yUma to
Mr. Michael Paul Chaple of North
Gardiner Drive, Bay Shore, the
son of Mrs. Virginia Chaple of
Bay Shore and Mr. Paul Chaple
of San Diego, California.
Miss Riedrich is a 1963 graduate
of Farmingdale Sr. High
and attended Keystone Jr. College
and is presently employed
by New York Telephone Co. in
the Accounting Department.
Mr. Chaple is a 1963 graduate
of Farmingdale Sr. High
and recently returned from active
duty with the 196th Light Infantry
Brigade in Vietnam. He
is presently employed by the
Long Island Railroad and is currently
attending New York State
University at Farmingdale.
An October 1968 wedding is
planned.

She is presently employed by

Mr. Christiansen is a graduate
of West Hempstead High

Institute and RCA Institute of
Technology. He is presently employed
by Consolidated Airborne
Systems, Inc. in Carle Place.

of Columbus held an exemplification
of the Second Degree J; the
Council Home and conferred

The Ceremony was attended by
Amityville, Greenlawn, F l o r al
Park and Lindenhurst Councils.
The newly- honored men are
scheduled to complete t h e ir
journey into Knighthood with the
exemplification of the Third Degree
to be held at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help Council in Lindenhurst
in the latter part of December.
In addition to the Second Degree
Ceremony, the council bestowed
an honor on George J «
Whelan of 58 Maple Ave., South
Farmingdale, with the ' Knight of
the Month' Merit Award, which
was presented to him by Grand
Knight Michael Tilleli.
Hudadoff To Lecture
At Music Convention
Igor Hudadoff, Supervisor of
Music in the Farmingdale Public
schools, will give a Lecture -
Demonstration entitled '' Teaching
the Understanding of Rhythm,"
Monday morning December
4 at the New York Stat ©
School Music Association annual
convention being held at the Concord
Hotel at Lake Kiamesha.
Igor Hudadoff has written several
methods for Band and Orchestra
devoted to the improvement
of Rhythmic Reading for
Instrumental groups. He claims
that through the use of his approach
in teaching these basic
Rhythm fundamentals, his Bands
developed faster and were thus
able to read and learn more Music
in a shorter period of time
and were able to perform more
often before the public and in
school assemblies.
Hudadoff will be accompanying
four Farmingdale High School
musicians where they a r e slated
to perform in the select " All
State" Band, Orchestra, and
Chorus. Jack Rapport is playing
Bassoon in the Orchestra, Marilyn
Goldberg is singing in the
Chorus, and Charlotte Meyn and
Joseph DePalo are playing Clarinets
in the Band.
Needy Families
Five needy families enjoyed
a pleasant Thanksgiving dinner
due to the efforts of the Key Club
of Farmingdale The project was
led by John Warner, Chairman
of the Food Project and President
Mitch Saposnick.
For the Christmas holiday,
the Club is planning to adopt 20
families.
The Key Club is a national
service organisation through
which High School students are
encouraged to participate in
worthwhile community activities.
The group is sponsored by the
Farmingdale Kiwanis organization.
Five Receive
CAP Promotions
Five area- teenagers, all members
of Nassau Composite Squadron
V, Civil Air Patrol have r e cently
received promotions and
awards for completion of phases
of training.
Promoted to Second Class cadets
and recipients of the ribbon
Aircraft in Flight were Ann Ros-enbrock,
Robert Howell, Jerry
Lanni, all of Farmingdale, and
Gary Neuman of Old Bethpage.
Eugene Kempey, of Farming-dale,
was promoted to Cadet
Third Class. Cadets Rosenbrock
and Howell also received the
ribbon for Power for Aircraft.
Each phase of training lasts
eleven weeks.
Students between the ages of
13 through 17 interested in aviation
and aerospace are invited
to seek membership in Civil Air
Patrol. Weekly meetings are held
Tuesday evenings at Howitt Junior
H. S.
Sheriff To Pay
Students A Visit
The Nassau County sheriff Joseph
Maher, will make an appearance
at Weldon E. Howitt
Junior High School, on Friday,
December 1. in conjunction with
the school's Total Enrichment
Program.
According to Dr„ Joseph
Goergen, principal, this is a
program to utilize the study
halls for talks by leading government
officials.
Frederick Wilkens, chairman
of the social studies department,
arranged for Sheriff Maher to
speak about the rehabilitation
work of the sheriff's office.
Two weeks ago Robert Gamble,
director of the County's Division
of Parks and Recreation, spoke
on the need for conservation and
more park lands. Earlier the students
heard County Clerk Franklin
Ornstein.
Hold Book Fair
The Sisterhood of the Farming-dale
Jewish Center, will hold an
annual Book Fair at their meeting
on Tuesday December 12th at
8: 30 p. m.
There will be a large selection
of books, for both adults and children
on Jewish Living, Novels,
Biographies, History and cooking.
Group Attends
ParroHc Night
Representatives of Veterans
of Foreign Wars, American Legion,
Knights of Columbus and the
Jewish War Veterans attended
the " Patriotic Night" sponsored
by The St. Kilian's Holy Name
Society.
The membership enjoyed the
various cakes, designed in a
patriotic manner, by the members*
wives in service are being
sent gifts through the generosity
of the Society's membership.

of the Farmingdale Fire District
elections last week when the
news account had Charles O'Neil
as Chief when he was a former
chief of the South Farmingdale
Fire Department. George Kerrigan
of 102 Sunset Avenue, South
Farmingdale is the Chief.
St. Kilian CYO Cage Teams
Begin Season Action
The St. Kilian CYO Basketball
teams tasted victory and defeat
in opening games of the season.
The Boys bantam team with
Stephen Balfe and John Ianno
leading the scorers, the team
took a 32- 24 win over St. Boniface
Martyr.
Coach Leon Martin's lads then
met St. Edward's of SyossetCYO
Team and dropped a 39- 15 decision
on the loser's court. John
Ianno, with six points was St.
Kilian's high scorer.
Both divisions of the St. Kilian
Girls CYO Basketball Teams got
off to a winning start.
The Grammar Division, eighth
grade girls) coached by Marie
Kollmer, met and defeated - 27-
21, St. Frances DeChantal Girls
CYO Team on the Birch Lane
School Court in Massapequa. The
tables were then turned when
Maria Regina Girls CYO Team,
on tiieir home court, scored a
20- 4 win over the Grammar Division.
The Bantam Division ( seventh
grade girls), coached by Alice
Leddy, scored a crushing 30- 0
defeat over die St. Pius lOdi
Girls CYO Team in a game
played on Holy Trinity Court.
Elaine Mackle and Peggy Greg-ovic
scored eight and five field
goals respectively. The team also
scored 17- 7 win over Holy Family
Girls CYO.
Arrest Youth For Burglary
Police arrested Louis H. Hes- with larceny of $ 783 fromagaso-ser,
20, of 16 Kent Street, South line station at Main Street and
Farmingdale, and charged him Route 109.
VAC Nears First Birthday
P. Langoe, a resident of Lev it-town,
who adopted two Vietnamese
children and a Vietnamese

First Anniversary
meeting on Monday, December
4 in the Faculty Room of the

organization, which is made up
of individuals representing social,
civic and church troups, a-dopted
700 men of the 4th Battalion,
9th Infantry, 25m Infantry.

The group has been sending
commodities, vitamins and medical
supplies to the unit for use
in their pacification program to
the Soudi Vietnamese people.
Car Stolen From Music Lounge Lot
A 1963 Chevrolet convertible
was reported stolen from the
parking lot of the Music Lounge
on South Main Street last Wednesday
evening between 11p. m.
and 3: 25 a. m.
The complainant David Haak-meester,
of Newport News, Virginia,
told police the car was unlocked.
Women's Club Dates Yule Luncheon
