Hawks Tie Port; JV's, Peanuts Win
An air conditioner, valued at
$ 100, was reported missing from
a truck in the rear parking lot
of Springfield Appliances at 318
Main Street, Farmingdale.
A gas station at the corner of
Lockwood Avenue and Merritt
Road was burglarized late last
Thursday and $ 19 in currency was
reported missing by the complainant,
James Sutera.
A petty larceny of 460 newspapers
was reported to police by
complainant Bernard Smith at
722 So. Main, South Farmingdale.
The papers were delivered at
the address and later were reported
missing..
Employees of the Farmingdale post office were awarded plaques
for " outstanding achievement" last week, in a contest sponsored
by the Post Office Department. Shown above, holding their
plaques are Clerk Georgine Bui in and Postmaster Leo J . Morgan.
Clerks Carl Dittmeier, R. Allen Mowery and Roger Squire also
received similar awards.
The F a r m i n g d a l e Peanut
Hawks football team ran into a
determined Great Neck eleven
today but managed to roll 210
yards on the ground for a 21-
0 shutout. Following a Chanen-chuk
interception, quarterback
Clinton sneaked for the first
score with Geiersback diving for
the extra point. In the second
half Geiersback slanted off the
right side 22yards to pay dirt and
added the extra point on a plunge.
Despite a Great Neck offense
which threatened throughout the
game with end sweeps, the Hawk
defense game up only a total of
72 yds.
The Pee Hawks made a valiant
effort but were unable to penetrate
strong defense set up by
Port Washington and lost 6- 0
The lone score came in the first
quarter with a triple reverse.
The JV Hawks won their fourth
straight game beating a tough
Great Neck eleven 7- 0. The
Hawks fought a stubborn Great
Neck defense to a scoreless first
half but early in the second half
the Hawks started to click with
off- tackle slants by Costigan and
end sweeps by Deliberti and MI-elo.
The only score came on a
slant through a huge hole opened
by Svrcek, Gabay and Donovan.
The hard charging unit of Dluz-neski,
Murphy, Ward, Curcio,
Bayen, and linebacker O'Bray
blunted Great Neck's end sweeps.
When the losers were forced inside,
the Hawk middle linemen
held.
The Seniors took on an undefeated
and unscored on Port
Washington eleven in a tough
nose to nose contest and wound
up in a 6- 6 tie. The Hawk score
came late in the fourth quarter
when Bob Seele scored from
the eight yard line in a power
sweep around right end. The Port
score came on a fourth down
and goal to go from the Hawk
ten.
The Blue Hawks scored early
in the first quarter on an end
sweep by Jimmy Palmer but
the Black Hawks came back with
the equalizer in the second quarter.
A rugged Black Hawk defense
provided the margin of
victory when Pete Noto tackled
the Blue Hawk quarterback in
his own end zone late in the
fourth quarter for an 8- 6 Black
Hawk win.
In a game that was played
mainly between the 35 yard lines,
the Gold Hawks beat the Red
Hawks 7- 0. Matt Lyons and John
Manella played an outstanding
game on defense for the Red but
Stetz, Tessitore, Copobianco and
Rogers hard charge kept Ken
Moore, the Red Hawk quarterback
from any long gains. Bill
Krug and Glen Milner ran well
for the Gold, with Krug scoring
on a 35 yard sweep and also
chalking up the extra point for
the 7- 0 win.

Making plans for Farmingdale's International Interact week are
Jeffrey Dow, ( left), who was a Rotary Exchange student last year
in Belgium, Douglas Noll, President of Farmingdale High School
Interact Club, and Gene Friedlander, Interact District Governor.
A reception will be held this Friday, at 8: 30 p. m. for international
exchange students at St. Luke's Parish Hall, sponsored by the Farmingdale
Rotary Club and the Farmingdale Womens Club. The Exchange
students will also attend the Farmingdale High School's Inaugural
Ball on Saturday evening.
Jimmy Sybil, a 1964 graduate
of Farmingdale High School is
the leading pass receiver for
the C. W. Post College football
team.
His top game came against
Alfred University when he grabbed
nine passes for 89 yards
and one touchdown in the 20- 15
victory. Sybil, a business
major, was a football and baseball
standout at Farmingdale
High. At Post, he was the leading
hitter on the baseball team
with a .310 average last season.
He has been elected the 1968
baseball captain.

RESOLVED BY THE BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE
OF FARMINGDALE, IN
THE COUNTY OF NASSAU, NEW
YORK ( by the favorable vote of
not less than two- thirds of all
the members of said Board) AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Village of
Farmingdale ( herein called " Village"),
in the County of Nassau,
New York, hereby appropriates
the amount of $ 105,000, including
$ 7,750 current funds to provide
the required down payment, for
the acquisition of the certain
piece or parcel of land, situate on
the east side of Main Street, between
Rose and Main Streets, adjacent
to and southerly of the
Village Hall, in said Village, containing
0.77 acres, more or less,
and more particularly described
on the map filed in the Village
Clerk's Office on May 9, 1967,
file number ST- 1527, as the site
of a Village park and recreational
area, the Board of Trustees of
the Village having heretofore duly
authorized the acquisition of said
land by condemnation pursuant to
resolution adopted on June 5,
1967. The estimated maximum
cost of said specific object or
purpose, including preliminary
costs of surveys, maps, plans,
estimates and hearings and costs
incidental thereto and the financing
thereof, is $ 105,000. The plan
of financing includes the expenditure
of said current funds, the i s suance
of serial bonds to finance
the balance of said appropriation
and the levy and collection of

taxes upon all the taxable real
property within the Village to pay
the principal of and interest on
said bonds as the same shall become
due and payable. The Village
has applied to the United
States of America acting through
the Department of Housing and
Urban Development for a grant of
Federal funds, to aid in financing
the cost of said specific object or
purpose and any such amount r e ceived
is hereby authorized to be
expended towards the cost thereof
or redemption of said bonds i s sued
therefor or to be budgeted
as an offset to said taxes for the
payment of the principal of and
interest on said bonds. Serial
bonds of the Village in the principal
amount of $ 97,250 are hereby
authorized to be issued pursuant
to the provisions of the Local
Finance Law, constituting Chapter
33- a of the Consolidated Laws
of the State of New York ( herein
called " Law"), to finance that
portion of said appropriation not
provided by current funds.
Section 2. The Village is hereby
authorized to originally improve
and embellish the site described
in Section 1 hereof for
use as a Village park and recreation
area. The estimated maximum
cost of said specific object
or purpose, including preliminary
costs and costs incidental
thereto and the financing thereof,
is $ 45,000 and the said amount is
hereby appropriated therefor, including
the appropriation of
$ 2,250 current funds to provide
the required down payment. The
plan of financing includes the expenditure
of said current funds,
the issuance of serial bonds to
finance the balance of said appropriation
and die levy and collection
of taxes upon all the taxable
real property within the Village
to pay the principal of and interest
on said bonds as the same
shall become due and payable.
The Village has applied to the
United States of America acting
through the Department of Housing
and Urban Development for a
grant of Federal funds, to aid in
financing the cost of said specific
object or purpose and any such
amount received is hereby authorized
to be expended towards
the cost thereof or redemption of
said bonds issued therefor or to
be budgeted as an offset to said
taxes for the payment of the principal
of and interest on said
bonds. Serial bonds of the Village
in the principal amount of $ 42,750
are hereby authorized to be i s sued
pursuant to the Law to finance
that portion of said appropriation
not provided by current
funds.
Section 3. The following additional
matters are hereby determined
and stated:
( a) The estimated total cost of
acquiring said land and originally
improving and embellishing said
site, is $ 150,000.
( b) The period of probable usefulness
of acquiring said piece or
parcel of land herein described,
being the specific object or purpose
for which said $ 97,250 serial
bonds are to be issued, within
the limitations of Section 11.00 a.
21 of the Law, is thirty ( 30) years.
( c) The period of probable usefulness
of originally improving
and embellishing said site, being
the specific object or purpose for
which said $ 42,750 serial bonds
are to be issued within the limitations
of Section 11.00 a. 19 ( c)
of the Law, is ten ( 10) years.
( d) Current funds are required
to be provided prior to the issuance
of the bonds authorized for
said specific objects or purposes
pursuant to this resolution or of
any notes in anticipation of the
sale of said bonds, and such current
funds will be provided from
monies in the aggregate amount
of $ 10,000 now available therefor
in the 1967- 1968 budget of the
Village under the heading " Open
Space - Land Acquisition". The
Village Treasurer is hereby authorized
and directed to set aside
said monies and to apply the same
solely to the said specific objects
or purposes as herein described.
( e) The proposed maturity of
the bonds authorized by this r e s olution
will exceed five( 5) years.
Section 4. Each of the bonds
authorized by this resolution and
any notes issued in anticipation of
the sale of such bonds shall contain
the recital of validity prescribed
by § 52.00 of the Law and
said serial bonds and any notes
issued in anticipation of said
bonds shall be general obliga-'
tions of the Village, payable as
to both principal and interest by
general tax upon all the taxable
real property within the Village
without limitation of rate or
amount The faith and credit of
the Village are hereby irrevocably
pledged to me punctual payment
of the principal of and interest
on said bonds and provision
shall be made annually in
the budget of the Village by appropriation
for ( a) the amortization
and redemption of the bonds
to mature in such year and ( b) the
payment of interest to be due and
payable in such year.
Section 7. This resolution shall
take effect thirty ( 30) days after
its adoption, unless within thirty
( 30) days after its adoption there
shall be filed with the Village
Clerk, in accordance with Article
5- A of the Village Law, a
petition signed and acknowledged
by electors of the Village of the
number required by Law, qualified
to vote upon a proposition to
raise and expend money, protesting
against this resolution and
requesting that it be submitted to
the electors of the Village for
their approval or disapproval, in
which case this resolution shall
take effect when approved by the
affirmative vote of a majority of
the qualified electors of the Village
voting upon a proposition for
its approval at a referendum held
in accordance with the Village
Law.
