(By Special Corresjpondent.) Preparations are being made for another game ot baseball by the mar¬ ried and single men of Smithville South to be held June 27. "rhe mar¬ ried men say they will win hands down this time.
I bave been confidently informed (this is a secret) that Manager Rauthy of the married men and his to-be-swatters are taking a corre¬ spondence coarse in the art ot play¬ ing ball; tbis course will euable any¬ one to become a league player.
Qlvee Instruction on how to hit a ball, whf n to get a ball, how to make a ball last, how many balls te take without Injury to yonr system, how to get off your base on balls, how to bat, what a good bat reaily costs, where to get a good bat on, what you do when you get a bat on, how to reach bome after getting a bat on, and it also givea other good pqints, but if I should publish them, tbe sin¬ gle men would get wise, too. The batteries wlll be single men, Koenig, pitcher; Fred Lutz, catcher; married men, Rauthy, pitcher; Bill Lutz, catcher'.

What iiii^ut have beea a serious accident happened on Newbridge load Friday aftornoo.i, June 4. when a car driven by Mrs. William Coombs hit a boy. Frank Sabia and two other children Were playing in the road way, when without loking or taking warning, he ran direotly In the path of the auto, which knocked him down and broke his leg in two places. It is hoped nothing more serious will follow. Dr. Skow attended to the boy.
It seems remarkable that there are not more accidents on this road. The children take no heed to the warning signals, and keep right in the centre of the road. When it happens that one does get hurt, it is always in¬ ferred that the driver was careless. Parents should warn their children to keep on the side of the road and not In the middle of it. Possibly this case make make them take notice in the future.
