The will of John R. Whitehouse, a well known resident of this village, who died recently in Lakewood, Flor¬ ida, has been filed for probate at Mineola. The document disburses $11,000 in cash, $2,000 of which is bequeathed to the American Bible Society for chafitable and other uses. Three daujrhtera of the testator, Mrs. Sarah A. Turner, Mrs. Helen E. Faath and Mias Mary E. Whitehouse, are willed $2,000 each, and three sons, John J., Charles E. and Arthur White- house, are given $1,000 each. The sona are made residuary legatees by the will, each to have an equal share in the estate. Mrs. Faath and Miss Whitehouse are appointed executrices.

The sad and sudden death of Ethel Soderman has brought aorrow to the entire community. About three o'clock Tuesday afternoon, little Ethel, who had been sleeping, went out into the yard, and going too close to a rubbish fire, her clothes caught fire, and she was severely burned. Her mother was momentarily engaged on another part of the grounds, and was not aware of Ethel's presence near the fire, suppos¬ ing she was still asleep, until attract¬ ed to the fire by the barking of the dog. Dt. Edgett of Amityville did all in hia power to save the little one, but it was beyond human power to do so. She died at 4 a.m. Wednes¬ day. Ethel was flve years old, the youngest of two children. The sym¬ pathy of the community is with Mr. and Mra. Soderman in their sad be¬ reavement.
