If there were the fact is beyond the knowledge of the far-famed old¬ est inhabitant.
In early colonial days on Long Isl¬ and clergymen had a farm surround¬ ing tllair place of abode and it af¬ forded'^ them a living in addition to their meagre salaries. These farms that in some cases were penetrated by waterways or tidewater creeks were known as parsonages.

In place of Indian camps and the rural habitations of Quakers there has been developed at Baldwin Har¬ bor an all year home colony covering TTiO acr^s and the rivers over which Indians glided in canoes have been ijolned by a series of waterways, deep¬ ened and straightened for the use of 'pale faces" in yacht and raotorboat who own honie.s along the shore.

Girl Pioneers Return from Camp.
The Girl IMoneers of Baldwin re¬ turned on Saturday, July 29, after a week's vacation at Ocean Beach, Fire Island. Although It rained most of the week everybody enjoyed them¬ selves just as miicli as if the sun luad iKH'n shining, for when they were indoors they either sang (iongs, wrote lengthy lettern to the "hoys," or ainiieed tliem.selves with a large white rabbit that helong(,'(l on the place and had a large hutch in the yard. This rabbit proved to he a great source of amusement for every one and he was usually keiit on the front porch. He was called Pecia Rabbit, and came when he was called.
Some of the girls were in halhing every day, either in the surf or hay. There was generally (luite a heated argument over which was better.
Since there were 14 girls and seven days, two girls were given full run of the kitchen each day anil if some folks did not like the meals they cer¬ tainly punished themselves.
One of the most severe trial.s of the cooks was to keep a certain young lady out of the pantry and away from the nyrtii) bottle. So urgent was the need one day lo watch the pantry that a barrel stave had to be em¬ ployed.
Wednesday was one of the visiting days on which day the cooks had to feed 26 people, and have almost half of that number under their feet at the same time. The company was so heavily laden with cakes, pies and watermelons, however, that one of the cooks who had been particularly cross wae forced to smile after she had managed to get on the outside of six generous slices of huckelberry pie.
Campflres on the beach were an¬ other enjoyable feature of the even¬ ing, to say nothing of the midnight feasts partaken of in bed, after which the feasters slept on the cruniba and marshniallowe.
On Wednesday and Friday some of the girls spent the day arranging their liair and powdering their noses preparatory to the dances given In tho Ca.sino on those nights; but alas, one of the greate.st deflcienclte of Ocean Beach was Its lack of suitable males!
All the girls wore bloomers and middies when they were not on dress parade for the dances, which perhaps accounted for the fact that the United States mail was the only kind procur¬ able.
On Friday night the joke players were afoot, and the victims had con¬ siderable trouble unripping their clothes and untying their sheets be¬ fore retiring, when they found their pillow cases were full of prickly pine needles.
Miss Jenkins was the very endur¬ ing chaperon, Miss Margaret Opper- man the director, and Miss Marion Whealey, the assistant director, and to these three do the "pioneers " owe their week's enjoyment.
The twelve girls were the Mioses Emma Carman, Janet Raynor, Edna Gunther. Harriet Smith, Ruth E. Wheeler, Adele Klolber, Rose Mulll- ner. Norma MulHner, Margurite Suits, Marion Keeler. Ada Johnson and Ruth M, Wheeler.
