Lawson and Mrs. Perkins Be¬ lieved To Be Together In New Jcrscy---Baekers Con¬ tinue His Business
.Since the sudden deiiariuie of .lames 1',. Lowson. who (undueted a butcher business ai Tl South Main street, Freeport, a fortnight aKO. it has been learned that Mrs. Lilliaii Perkins, of Merrick is missing fron; her home, 'ft Is believed thai the two are tof^ether soiiiew here in New Jer¬ sey.
Lowson was well known in Freepoit lo the majority of persons who pur¬ chased meals al Butler's store at Mer¬ rick road and Main street. He was in charge of lhat department from the opening of the store unlil a little over three weeks ago \\ hen he went inlo business for himself. In his business Venture he had tiie assistance of F .•Vic Travey, of Broadway, who is now conducliug the business. It is alleged that Lowson look wilh hirn all the available lunds in the store, leaving
ili«- ill- bo.\ prac U( ally empty.
According to the Mc Taveys the slore seemed like a profitable invest¬ ment. Following its opening th? stock was sold out on several occa¬ sions. On the Saturday night pre- cedini:? Lowson's departure, except fo*- a small (luanliiy of- smoked- meat, everything was sold. A considerable (luanlity of money, estimated at sev- leral hundred dollars wa.s taken in, all ! of which, it is alleged, Tvowson took with him at the time "bf his departui'e. Lowsoo kr-a man of medium heighi and of good appeiiranee. His affable manner won him many friends and considerable trade while he was in charge of the meal departiuenl of the Builer store and ic was generally be¬ lieved by those who knew him tha' he would meet with sucr-ess in bl¬ own store. Mrs. Perkins, it is under¬ stood, made his acquaintance while purchasing meat al Butler's.
A search is being made lor Lowson by those with whom he is associated in business here in the interest ol his wife, .Mrs. Mine Brenner-Lowson, who is at present at .Montrose, Scot¬ land, with her two children, one uf which is an infant in arms. Since he left Freeport his friends have received numerous lettere from her telling ol her sorrowful plight. She is without funds, it is stated, and in need of sup¬ port.

COMMUNICATION
Concerning Playgrounds
I To the Editor Nassau Post:
1 When the people of Freeport ^ make a move toward completing the '
' playground for whieh land was leased from New York Cily two years ago? j It seems a pity that the land should remain imused when the . taxjiayeis j aie putting up $750 annually for ill
I The necessity for a .suitable piay-1 gioujid has been established and the boys and girls need it now. Kvery day when the weather is fine, from fifty to seventy hoys of all a:;es may he seen playing baseball al the Sea¬ man avenue grounds. The girls are provided with no imblic grounds where they can indulge in games which ihey enjoy. They should be provided with such a place. It would not require a big outlay of money to put the land bordering Freepori River in condition for bolh the boys and girls and the older people as well. As a reader of your interesting paper and a resident of Freeport interested in a public iday- ground, I hope that the movement may be renew^ed In the near future. Yours vciT truly
E. V. Baldwin.
