Visit of New Superintendent.
The first quarterly conference of the Roosevelt .M. E. church was held on Saturday evening last. Dr. A. S, C'avanaugh, the new district super¬ intendent, was present, and in a forceful and logical manner present¬ ed Ko.nie new ideas in his work. One was that instead of meetings in the separate churches for the second and tliird ijuarters, certain sections should combine and hold a confer¬ ence at a given central location In the afternoon and evening. The mem¬ bers of tlie fiuarterly conference ot each church, as well as the workers, would be invited to attend and make their reports , and exchange views and plans for hetter service. This idea has been adopted by over fifty churches in this district.
On account of the epidemic ot in¬ fantile paralysis A-hich Is tlireafen- Ing the cliildren hereabouts, no Sun¬ day school sessions were held in the churches of this place last Sunday. They will not be resumed until fur¬ tlier notice.
