A flfty-bed hospital will be stationed behind the lines In one of the most devastated areas In France. While it will be at the call of the French War Department for the care of the mili¬ tary wounded, its direct object is to build up the broken down women and children who have suffered from lack of care during the occupation of their i(»wns by war forces.
In a cahlcgr.nm received from Doctor Firiley the dire need of the French people for the help to bo secured ill rough the hospital la set forward In a startling sentence or two—"Great need for unit. Civilians taken many miles for ho.spiiiil treatment. Must do much surgery: need sper-l.Tlists, am¬ bulance service, scveriil dispensaries."
It will bo reciilled lliat the I'^-iiicli High Commissioner, .Monsieur Tardleu, wns most hospitable to the idea of the unit from the start.
