George Vanderhilt Todd, of the Camp Grounds in this village, died on Tuesday night frniii heart failure. .Mr. Todd left the house for business, but complained throiiKboiit the day of pains in his ebest. He retired early Tiiesd:iy evening and accidentally the lock on his bed room door became fastened. .'Mrs. Todd later on went up stairs and heard hard brealliing. She tried to enter, but the door was locked.
.Not being able to force the door herself, she iinmedialely sent for her son Saniuel, who lives in a cottage near by. He at once forced tbe door open and di.scoveied that his father had passed away.
.Mr. Todd was a man of 71? years of age and of fine presence. He was 1 (.nor.'d, loved and respectetl by all who knew him. He was a very active member in the .Merrick Civic League. For the past fifty years Mr. Todd waa in the printing business with an offlce on Beckman Street, New York. Be- .sidc his widow, .Mr. Todd left two sons, one of whom is Samuel, foreman of the .Merrick Hook, Ladder and Kngine Company No. 2.

Lasl Friday evening .Mrs, Samuel T. fJourdelte was struck by an automo¬ bile while crossing Merrick Road near Central Avenue. .Mrs. Bourdelte was knocked down and was unconscious. When she came to enough to realize what had happened, she rolled to the side of the road for safety. She was alone, hut managed to get to her home, where it was found she was cut about the head and badly bruised otherwise. The occupant of occupants of the au¬ tomobile are unknown.
