Since 1920 and the passing of the
15th and 19th Amendments, every aduh
American has gained the right to vote,
which is one of the most important rights
we have as American adults. According
to Mark Lopez, the research developer
of Youth Vote Coalition, unfortunately,
only 59 percent of 18-25 year olds are
registered to vote, and only 32 percent
actually voted in the last presidential and
primary elections.
On Tuesday, November 4th 2008,
Americans will be voting for a new Pres-ident,
Vice President, a new House of
Representatives, and one-third of the U.S
Senate.
In the last seven years many devastat-ing
events have occurred, that have left
young voters concerned for their future.
Some of the issues that cause the most
concern for our age group are the oppor-tunities
for good jobs, the economy, the
war in Iraq, and the candidate's motiva-tion
and vision.

"I've always been a person who ap-precitates
education," said Williams. "I
love Framingdale and I try to get involved
in all of the activities."
Williams took her 11-year-old son,
Kyle, to the ceremony in Albany. Kyle
said he felt proud to stand next to his
mom when she received her award. Wil-liams
will graduate as a registered nurse
and would like to work with post surgery

Lauren Fink is in the technology man-agement

hear that Frank
Rampello won the award as well. To have
two PCM students win is a really great
reflection of our department."
Frank Rampello has been very active
in student government during his four
years at FSC. He was elected vice presi-dent
of Student Government and last year
he was a senator. Currently he is a mem-ber
of the new Student Union Commit-tee,
the Art of Giving Committee and Phi
Theta Kappa Honor Society.
"It was really a thrill to be nominated.
Honestly, my four years at Farmingdale
have been filled with painful bouts of
self-doubt," said Rampello. "Winning
this award makes all the bad times worth
it. I am so thankful to everyone who has
helped me along the way."
Rampello is currently in the process
of applying to graduate schools. He will
be taking some time off in May and June
to evaluate his plans.
