FREEPORT THANKS NAVAL ACADEMY MIDSHIPMEN: Freeport veterans join
Mayor Andrew Hardwick, Trustee Carmen Pineyro and members of the Naval
Academy Parents Club of Long Island to thank the men and women of the
United States Naval Academy Sail Training Squadron for their commitment to
serve as future officers in the Navy or Marine Corps. The Sail Training
Squadron has proudly chosen Freeport as a port of call for the past 13 years.
The midshipmen sailed to Freeport from Annapolis, Maryland, on four 44-foot
sail training vessels. Mayor Andrew Hardwick presented the midshipmen with
a citation, and said he is "honored that Freeport continues to be a part of the
Sail Training Squadron's offshore professional development program."
