A Fair Campaign Pledged Local Firm Is Ground - Breaking Site
Fined $1,000
S.L.S. Associates, Inc., a
Lynbrook, New York insurance
agent, has been fined $1,000 by
the New York Insurance
Department.
By stipulation, S.L.S. has
admitted that during 1971 and
1972, in its capacity as an agent
for a mutual insurance company,
it issued ten accident and health
insurance policies which were not
filed with or approved by the
Insurance Department. This was
a violation of Section 154 of the
Insurance Law.
The policies were subsequently
cancelled and replaced by
policies filed with and approved
by the Insurance Department.
S.L.S. Associates, Inc. is
licensed as an insurance agent
under Section 113 of the In-surance
Law. Its address is 8
Freer Street, Lynbrook, N.Y.
Japan Exhibit
Is On 'View^
Fanciful objects from Japan
compose the exhibit on view at
the Malverne Public Library
during September. Used for a
range of purposes from personal
adornment to household
decoration, the items are loaned
by Takashimaya, Inc., for exhibit
in the public libraries of Nassau
County.
An exquistitely dressed doll --
16 inches tall -- and a full-size
krmona, a waxed parasol, silver
slippers and clogs further
illustrate the Japanese war-drobe.
Household pieces in the
collection include a four-panel
screen with landscape motif and
a stoneware plate. Also on
display are paper kites of striking
design, origami paper and an
abacus.
The Japanese exhibit is one of
the many hanging and showcase
displays made available to the
public libraries in Nassau County
by the Nassau Library System,
the cooperative service center for
all of the 53 libraries.

Family Togetherness Day
TURNING THE EARTH ... Nassau County Executive Ralph G. Caso
gets a helping hand in turning the first spade of earth for the new
Work-Release facility at the Nassau County Jail. State Senator John
R. Dunne, left, a leading member of several committees on correc-tional
institiutions, and Nassau Sheriff Michael P. Seniuk, are the
helpers. The facility, to cost $1,300,000 is being built with some $775,000
in federal funds. It will consist of 11 small buildings within a fenced
area just north of the County Jail in East Meadow. Eight of the
buildings will provide housing for a total of 98 inmates selected for tne
rehabilitation program, which allows them to go out each day to work
and return at night.

FAMILY TOGETHERNESS
DAY: Hempstead Town
Presiding Supervisor Francis T.
Purcell had the honor of
designating Saturday, September
7, as FAMILY TOGETHERNESS
DAY, by official Town of Hemp-stead
proclamation. The event
commemorates the astounding
"Survive the Savage Sea" true
story of courage, ingenuity and
rare example of togetherness a
shipwrecked family relied on to
survive the hostile Pacific waters
after killer whales sank their
schooner. A replica of the 9-foot
dinghy that was their tiny sea-tossed
home I'or 37 days will be
exhibited - together with sur-vival
equipment and information
on small craft safety - at
Roosevelt Field Mall on "Family
Togetherness Day," Saturday,
September 7th. The Boy Scouts of
America Nassau County Council,
whose goals are consistent with
the concept of family together-ness
and personal resour-cefulness
exemplified by the
Robertsons experiences, will
participate in the event. So will
the United States Coast Guard
and the United States Coast
Guard Auxiliary, both praised by
the Supervisor in his

Chairwomen. The feast will run Friday, September 13, from 5 p.m. to
12 midnight; Saturday, September 14, from 2 p.m. to 12 midnite; and
Sunday, September 15, from 1-9 p.m.
