Raymond J. Chang of Lynbrook High School, winner of a 16th Annual
Paragon Oil Student Incentive Award for outstanding scholarship and
citizenship is congratulated by Dr. Charles W. Laffin, Jr., president of
ih£ State .University in Farmingdale, where the Award ceremonies
were held. The Awards [Certificate of Honor and U.S. Bonds] spon-sored
by Texaco Inc., were this year presented to the top students of
120 Nassau and Suffolk County high schools. Nassau County Executive
Ralph G. Caso delivered the principal address at the ceremonies at-tended
by some 400 award-recipients, their parents and educators.

Attorney General For-A-Day
"IS NEW YORK'S TOUGH

These questions of current
interest will be discussed by high
school students in New York
State who will compete in the 17th
a n n u a l "ATTORNEY
GENERAL FOR-A-DAY" essay
contest sponsored by the New
York State Department of Law.
In announcing the contest,
Attorney General Louis J.
Lefkowitz said, "If past response
is any index, young people will
respond enthusiastically to this
chance to make their views
known on these topics of current
state, national and international
concern.
"Today's high school students
are the best educated, most
articulate younger generation
this country has ever produced,"
he said. "They are acutely aware
of social and political conditions
which often affect their lives. I
know they will welcome this
opportunity to speak out on issues
of public concern."
The Attorney General also
commended educators in
private, parochial and public
high schools for encouraging
students to speak out on the
issues.
The first place winner of the
contest will "serve" as "At-torney
General F'or-A-Day" and
will receive a United States
Savings Bond. Second, third,
fourth and fifth place winners
will serve for a day as solicitor
general, executive assistant
attorney general and first and
second assistant attorneys
general respectively. The
"swearing in" ceremonies will be
held in the Attorney General's
office in the State Capitol, in
Albany, and will be followed by a
luncheon for the winners.
Entries, postmarked no later
than April 7, 1974, must contain
no more than 300 words. Essays
should be sent to: Charles W.
