Fire Prevention Weeh Celebrated
Officers of the East Rockaway Fire Department pay respects after the laying of a wreath during

As part of its program during Fire Prevention Week, the Malverne Fire Prevention Bureau sponsored a
poster contest. The winners shown above are; left to right, front row, Honorable Mention; Donna
Xenophon, Steven Diminich, Jeffrey Goldberg, and Suzanne Voelleer. Middle row, 2nd. Place Winners;
Donna Zdanko, Julie Stern. Bobby Kirincic, Michael Ogason and Tracey Davis. Back row: Fire Chief
(iregory S. Turrell, 1st. Place Winner Karen McCartney, Capt. Greg Evans, Poster Contest Chairman;
and C apt. Harold Petersen, Chairman, Fire Prevention Bureau.
The East Rockaway Fire Department treated children to a ride on a
fire truck as part of its program during Fire Prevention Week.

Pre-Election Meeting Held
At New V,F.W, Hall
Tues. Oct. 23, 1973 at the new
V.F.W. Hall in Lynbrook, a pre-election
meeting was held jointly-by
the Lynbrook Republican Club
and the Malverne Republican
Club. Republican Leader of
Lynbrook, Robert Becker and
Howard Levitt, Republican
Leader of Malverne were co-hosts
of affair.
Most of the County top
Republicans turned out as guest
speakers, Ralph Caso, Alphonse
D'Amato, the County Leader Joe
Margiotta, Comptroller Christ,
County Clerk McConnell, Can-didate
for Chairman Board of
Assessors Abe Seldin, numerous
Judges and some Town Coun-cilmen.
An overflow crowd of 200
or more turned out, and everyone
agreed it was a tremendous event
in Lynbrook.
