Suburbia Federal Elects
\ew Senior Vice President

opening day of the 1973 Legislature. Senator Levy will represent the
people of the 8th Senate District comprised of part of Nas^ County.
Suburbia Federal Savings and
Loan Association has announced
the election of Robert J. Miller to
Senior Vice President. The
promotion was made at the
association's December meeting
of the Board of Directors. For the
past 6 years, Mr. Miller has
served as Suburbia Federal's
Vice President and director of the
Data Processing Center at the
association's Lynbrook office.
In his new post, Mr. Miller will
act as senior operating officer of
Suburbia Federal's new $2 1/2
million branch and operations
center in Lynbrook scheduled to
open in the Spring of 1973. Mr.
Miller will be in charge of the
most sophisticated on-line data
system in use today to service the
thousands of daily transactions
pouring in from Suburbia
Federal's six Long Island offices.
When he joined the institution
in 1960, Mr. Miller brought with
him considerable expertise in the
then-fledgling data processing
industry. Rising from assistant
treasurer to assistant vice
president, Mr. Miller directed
Suburbia Federal's changeover
from an obsolete punch-card
system in 1966 to a speedy,
complex Burroughs 280 system.
Mr. Miller is a member of the
L.I. Chapter of the Data
P r o c e s s i n g Management
Association and the National
Management Association. As a
non-commissioned officer in the
U.S. Marine Corps during the
1950's he designed and directed
two data processing installations
for the federal government. He
received his training with IBM,
Univac and Burroughs.
Miller and his wife Elke Heide
are the parents of three sons,
Robert Jr., Kevin and Eric, and
reside in Levittown.
W.F. Tinnelly Named V.P. Purcell To Speak At PBA Dinner
NEW YORK, January 4, 1973 - William F. Tinnelly of
Lynbrook has been named assistant vice-president of
East River Savings Bank, it was announced today by
Austin 'S. Murphy, chairman and president.
Mr. Tinnelly joined East River
in 1968 after being district
manager for Equitable Life
Insurance for several years.
Under his direction, the East
River's Savings Bank Life In-surance
Department was begun.
Since 1968, sales of insurance
have increased steadily and
during 1972 East River had the
largest percentage increase in
total life insurance of all issuing
New York State savings banks.
Mr. Tinnelly is presently an
instructor at the American In-stitute
of Banking in addition to
his duties at East River. He is a
member of the Managers Forum
of the Savings Banks Association
of New York State, a member of
the board of directors of the
Lynbrook Rotary Club, a
member of American Legion
Post 335, the Holy Name Society
and the Men's Club of Our Lady
of Peace Church in Lynbrook.
Mr. Tinnelly, his wife, Vicky,
and their daughters Terence and
Melanie, live at 50 Garden Drive
in Lynbrook.
East River Savings Bank, with
nine officers in New York City
and on Long Island, has deposits
in excess of one billion dollars.

The Nassau County
P a t r o l m e n ' s Benevolent
Association will hold its 44th
Annual Installation Dinner-
Dance on Friday evening,
January 19th, 7:30 PM, to
Leonard's of Great N^k. The
Nassau PBA which represents
about 4,000 active and retired
Nassau County policemen will
hear Hempstead Town Presiding
Supervisor Francis T. Purcell, as
guest speaker of the evening.
Purcell, Vice Chairman of the
Nassau County Board of
Supervisors, is a former State
Assemblyman and Village
Mayor. He enjoys a very popular
reputation among Nassau police
officers.
All newly elected PBA
executive officers will be in-stalled.
They include: Ptl.

(President), Ptl. Raymond
O'Connor of South Farmingdale

(Sergeant-at-Arms).
A "Top Cop of The Year"
Award will be presented to a
Nassau patrolman, who in 1972,
made the most outstanding
arrest or committed the most
heroic deed, in the line of duty.
Many other government officials
from local, state, and federal
levels will be present. Over 1000
people are expected to attend. A
prime ribs of beef dinner and
unlimited liquor will be served.

Presented Certificate
Rev. John R. Michael, pastor of Lynbrook Baptist Church shares a
look at the Missionary Commissioning certificate being presented to
Joy and Larry Mykytiuk. The Mykytiuks have been commissioned by
the Far Eastern Gospel Crusade;and will be ministering in the
Philippine Islands among college young people. Joy is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Varchmin of 57 Charles Street, Lynbrook.
