communities are invited to
participate in the St. Raymond's
2nd Annual WEEKEND "IN -
PARISH" RETREAT on May 11,
May 12, and May 13. The St.
Raymond's Holy Name Society
invites all to participate in the
F A M I L Y WEEKEND
RETREAT which will be held
Friday night at 8:00 P.M., May
11, in St. Raymond's Church;
Saturday morning, May 12, 10:00
A.M. to 3:00 P.M. in the School
Cafeteria. At 3:00 P.M., we will
proceed to St. Raymond's Church
for Stations of the Cross, a
Conference, Benediction followed
by Confessions. The Retreat will
conclude on Sunday morning with
the 9:00 A.M. Mass in St.
Raymond's followed by a short
meeting in the school cafeteria.
The Retreat Master is the
Reverend Father Robert I.
Gannon, S.J., former President
of Fordham University and
Retreat Master at St. Ignatius in
Manhasset.
The general theme of the
Retreat is "what do we do in a
crisis" and will consist of four
Conferences, namely: 1. Our
Selves and God; 2. Our Selves
and the World; 3. Where Christ
Fits In and 4. What Was He Like.
The Retreat will also consist of
Mass, Meditation, Rosary,
Benediction, Stations of the
Cross, Discussions and a Pot
Luck Family Lunch.

The Lynbrook Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Howard-Lathrop
Post 2307 and it's Ladies
Auxiliary announces it's Annual
Buddy Poppy Drive.
Through the co-operation of
Mayor Becker and the Village
Board, the Poppy Drive will start
on May 5th and last through
Memorial Day, May 28th.
Volunteers wearing caps and
uniforms will be stationed at
various place through-out the
Village. This year, here will also
be Poppy Corsages available for
the Ladies. So buy a poppy or
corsage and wear it in honor of
our deceased veterans.
CAREER DAY: Victor Staffieri, a student at Malverne High School,
confers with Hempstead Town Presiding Supervisor Francis T.
Purcell whose place he took at a mock meeting of the Nassau Board of
Supervisors. Victor was one of approximately 150 high school students
from throughout Nassau County who "substituted" for government
officials in the annual observance of Career Day.
