Purcell Names Becker As Federal Aid Liaison
HEMPSTEAD TOWN'S MAN IN WASHINGTON: Hempstead Town Presiding

Becker, son of fornner Congressman Frank Becker, will use his long experi-ence
in the nation's capital to search out available federal grants for town
projects and programs.

and a man with a long
and varied experience in
the nation's capital, has
been named by Hemp-stead
Town Presiding
Supervisor Francis T.
Purcell to be the town's
Washington liaison.
"It'll be Bob Becker's
job to bird-dog federal
agencies to ferret out
federal funds and a s s i st
the town in initiating r e -
quests for federal
grants," Purcell de-clared.
"He's the perfect man
for the job," Purcell
said, "as the son of
former U.S. Represen-tative
Frank J. Becker

has many friends and
acquaintances in Wash-in^
on and knows his way
around the federal bu-reaucracy.
As the
brother of Lynbrook
Mayor Francis Becker,
Bob is totally familiar
with the needs and work-ings
of local gov-ernment.

Becker will work c l o s e -
ly with the Department
of Planning and Eco-nomic
Development,
headed by Walter G.
Michaelis.
Becker, a native of
Lynbrook, lives with his
wife, the former Mar-garet
Howell of Lyn-brook,
and their six
children, at 29 Summit
He is past president
and director of the
Cerebral Palsy Asso-ciation
of Nassau, Inc.,

Edward 0. Lerner of East Rockaway, co-ordin-ator
of the CD Auxiliary Police in the Town of
Hempstead, said the new command post and two-way
radio communications will increase the ef-ficiency
of the volunteer Auxiliary patrols.
County Executive Ralph G. Caso issues a proclamation urging all residents
of Nassau County to support the 1972 Heart Fund Campaign to be conducted
here and throughout the country during the month of February.
Caso is shown giving the formal Proclamation to Bernard Rubin, (Great
Neck) (r). President of the Nassau Heart Association. In the center is
famed pianist Peter Nero, (Great Neck) who is the 1972 Honorary Heart
Fund Chairman.
The proclamation declares that heart and bloodvessel diseases afflict 27
million, or one-in-eight Americans, responsible for more deaths than all
other causes combined. la l j
"As County Executive I am proud to proclaim February Heart Month and
urge all our citizens to support the Heart Fund Campaign of the Nassau Heart
Association through their gifts and voluntary services which will speed
greater advances in the conquest of our nation's leading killer and disabler.
