Mrs. Lillian H. Fleming,
Manager of the Chase Manhattan
Bank at 234 Hempstead Ave.,
Lynbrook is one of the few women
executives we have in this area.
She has blonde hair, a warm
vibrant personality, a great love
of people and her job, (banking)
and is probably one of the best
assets Chase Manhattan has in
the entire Metropolitan area.
Lillian is Finnish-American
with a fine mind great empathy
for others. Her father, Charles
was born in Finland and her
lovely mother, Hilia Allenius was
born in Conneaut, Ohio right on
Lake Erie in the very same house
that she later gave birth to her
daughter, Lillian. Conneaut
seems to be an old Indian name
and the little family moved to
Queens Village when Lillian was
quite young. She has one brother,
Charles Richard Allenius of
Merrick. Her childhood days
were happy ones and the family
was a very close one. Lillian
attended Hempstead Public
Schools and graduated from
Hempstead High School. She
then went to Washington
Secretarial School where she
graduated with Honors as a top-notch
gal in her field. Oddly
enough, she is one of the first
ladies we know who enlisted in
the United States Navy as a Wave-in
World War IL She became a
Control Tower Operator at an
Airfield, which shows just how
efficient and remarkable .she is.
After the war, she returned to
National City Bank, where she
had worked before the war and
married her boss and wonderful
husband, George. Her comments
about him indicate that the
couple have had a very happy
marriage, as her husband and
family mean everything in the
world to her. They were married
in January of 1947 and now reside
in Merrick. Mr. and Mrs.
Fleming have two children.
Sandra Elizabeth, now Mrs. Gary
Kabrau made her parents
members of the loving grand-

parents of America with the birth
of their own little girl, six months
ago, baby, Elizabeth Ann.
Their son , Robert Fleming and
his wife are also the parents of a
new baby girl named Tracy born
in August of this year. This writer
must report that both and I
repeat, BOTH granddaughters
are equally beautiful and perfect
tiny charmers.
Lillian stopped working until 7
years ago as she felt that she
wanted to be close to her growing
family in the important and
fleeting years of their growing-up
period. She has returned to her
first love in the business world,
which is banking.
She loves bridge and golfing,
which she is rather good at. Her
one great relaxation is reading
and she reads an enormous
amount of all types of
publications and is one of the best
informed women we have ever
had the pleasure of talking to.

she uses in her home and her own.
