Lynbrook Week
lune 21 St-27th by Annette Ling
A hard-working and devoted
volunteer citizens' committee
called the Lynbrook Week Com-mittee
under the able Chairman-ship
of Mr. William Hahl with
Trustee Bill IBuzzeo acting as
Liason with the Village Hall, has
been busily at work for months
now on plans to make this Lyn-brook
Week one of the biggest
and best in Lynbrook history.
From June 21st until June 27th,
Lynbrook residents and their
families and friends will be
treated to the most varied and
interesting program which should
make Lynbrook, U.S.A., the place
where "the action is" during
that period on Long Island,
On Monday, there will be a
Lynbrook group, of seats at the
Westbury Music Fair and a spon-sored
bus trip for anyone wish-ing
to go.
On Tuesday, the best musi-cians
from the First Army Band
will give a concert under the
rostrum or pavilion of the new
Village Hall and in case of rain,
the group will perform indoors
at Lynbrook Senior High School
Auditorium. There will be plenty
of room for everyone and this
group of fine artists is justi-fiably
famous.
On Wednesday, there will be a
Senior Citizens' Vaudeville Show
given at the Lynbrook Senior High
School Auditorium.

Mr. Frank Lenhart, Assistant
Vice-President and Manager of
Marine Midland Bank in Lynbrook
is one of the most interesting and
truly nice personalities on our
local scene. His knowledge of
people is garnered from over
25 years of vast experience in
dealing with the public in the
world of banking, and a keen ob-servation
of human personality
and different traits of character.
Frank was bom in New York
City to the late Barbara and Mich-ael
Lenhart, and by the time he
reached fifth grade, the family
had moved to Queens and he was
graduated from Presentation of
the Blessed Mother Parochial
School and Jamaica High School,
He served in World War II in
the European Theatre of War
as a Pilot of a B-24 and was
stationed in Italy attached to the
15th ,Air Force.
He married the former Alicife
Jane Davis, an Eastern Air Lines
Stewardess in 1946 and the
couple, who make their home in
West Islip have three children.
His wife is originally from Miami
and is a beautiful l&dy with quite
a flair for good cookery and the
favorite dish she serves her hus-band
is Sauerbraten.
Their oldest son, Gregory, age
23 is a graduate of M.I.T, and is
now working in the M.I.T. Lab-orator
in Mass, doing research.
Their other son, Richard, age
21, a graduate of Union College
in Schenectedy is now working
for General Electric and their
youngest daughter Dorothy, age
18 is attending N.Y. University
at New Palz, majoring in Art.
Frank has one brother, the older
of the two, Raymond who is a Tax
Acct, with Chemical Bank and
one sister, Mrs, Ann Babinsky
of West Islip. Raymond lives in
Farmingdale, N.Y.
He had been in banking before
he went into the army in World
War II, at the old Bank of the
Manhattan in Richmond Hill,
Queens and returned their brief-ly
until he left to join the Jamaica
National Bank which was merged
with Marine Midland Bank in Aug-ust
of 1955, He has been very
happy with Marine Midland and
been with them ever since that
date. His present post in Lyn-brook,
he thoroughly likes as he
admires the village and likes
the people of Lynbrook, U.S.A.
One of the most unusual things
Mr. Frank Lenhart
about him is that he is the first
American male, this writer has
ever interviewed who likes red
as his favorite color, as this is
a color of joy and a firm, male,
decisive character and usually
not found among most American
men, who all seem to favor blue.
One of the most memorable
events of his life was when he
first soloed in his open cock-pit
plane which was a Stearman
P-T and when he obtained his
wings as a fully qualified pilot.
His happy marriage to his be-loved
and beautiful wife, Dorothy,
and their joy at the birth of each
of their children stand out in
his mind as most memorable.
In appearance, he is 6 ft. 2 inc.
in height and fit and muscular with
a large frame. He dresses well,
but conservatively and is one of
the most modest men we have
ever met. His hobbies are wood-working,
reading, and music and
in outdoor sports, golf and bowl-ing.
He is a Past-President of the
Jamaica Lions Club and Treas-urer
of Union School District
#9 in West Islip.
I found that Frank Lenhart
is certainly a fine person and
so quiet and easy to talk to.
His modesty is one of the first
things one notices about him
and he has great charm of man-ner
and is truly a type of mar
who might be called a gentle-man
in every sense of the word
and a loyal friend, if he once
gives his friendship to some-one.
He is going to prove quite
a great asset to Lynbrook, U.S.A.
