Village Hall To Be Dedicated
The new Village Hall of the Incorporated Village of Lynbrook, a new type
of architecture for this part of the country in that it is a sort of Greek-
Modern type with a round rotunda in its main meeting room or court or board
room on the upper level is being dedicated on Thursday evening with a host
of dignitaries present.
It will be quite beautiful and impressive at night when the lights of the rotunda
are lit up and this large circular room seats approximately 106 very com-fortably.
The Lynbrook Police Dept. is on the first floor or lower level
equipped with the latest type of modern radio facilities for efficient police
work and the building i s located at the junction of Peninsula Blvd. and Merrick
Rd. with a newly re-named street to one side of it called Columbus Drive,
formerly Lyons Place.
The Dedication will
take place at 7:00 p.m.
with seats on the park-ing
field for at least
500 spectators and the
ceremonies will be
brief, but very moving.
It is usually only once
in a life-time that anew
Village Hall i s dedicated
and this will mark a
first for this type of
building, here in New
York State. High rank-ing
officials will present
flags which have flown
over the Capitol in
Washington, and over
the State Building in Al-bany,
to join with the
special Ljnibrook flag.
As we go to press, it
is impossible to name
all the dignitaries who

due to the combined quick ac-tions
of patrolman Robert Fin-ley
of the Lynbrook Police De-partment,
Mr. Louis Leggio of
Lynbrook and another resident
of Watkins Street, Lynbrook,
Martin Hussey, 29 years of 2071

arrested for robbery 2nd de-gree.
Mrs. Dezio of Harriet Place,
Lynbrook was walking in the
driveway of her home when a
man later identified as Martin
Hussey approached her stating
"this is a stick-up, give me
your pocketbook," he then
forcibly took her pocketbookfrom
her and pushed her into a chain
link fence. The suspect was ob-served
leaving the scene in a
blue vehicle while another neigh-bor
remembering the registra-tion
plate number notified patrol-man
Finley over a police call
box. Patrolman Finley on duty
at Lynbrook police headquarters
immediately broadcast a
notification via the Lynbrook
police radio, and also notified
the Nassau County police de-partment
radio biu-eau. Mr.
Leggio pursued the vehicle and
while sounding his horn followed
the vehicle into Hewlett where
the suspect was arrested by
patrolman Wilson and Sgt. Nor-land
of the Nassau County Police
Department.

WOMEN'S RALLY: The "Housewives for Rockefeller Committee" in Nassau
County enthusiastically welcome Governor Rockefeller and Ralph Caso,
( r i g h t ) , to a r a l l y for the Republican Team. The Nassau County Republican
CluD, who sponsored the "smashing success," reported over 3,500 guests
converged on Birchall Adult's estate in Matinecock to support the Governor
and his teammates.
Ann J. Arnsperger
Mrs. Ann J. Arnsperger is the
capable Worthy Matron of the
Order of the Eastern Star. She
was born in New York City to
the late Arvid Johnson, and her
mother, Rose, who is still living
and is a resident of Queens.
Ann has one brother, Arvid
Johnson, Jr. of Seaford who is an
Electronics Engineer. She at-tended
public schools in New York
City and was graduated from John
Adams High School in Queens ma-joring
in a business course. She
held many different secretarial
and business positions until her
marriage in 1944 to Walter Arns-perger.
The Arnspergers are
residents of Valley Stream since
1945, Ann joined the Lynbrook
Chapter of the Eastern Star in
1963 and has held various posts
until she became Worthy Matron.
She was a Sperry Gyroscope Em-ployee
until June of this year
when many regular employees
were discharged due to a defense
cut-back etc.
The Arnspergers have a son,
Walter, Jr. and a daughter, Ann,
now Mrs. D. Olafson, also a mem-ber
of the Order of the Eastern
Star. Her son, Walter and his
pretty wife. Beryl have three
sons, Wayne, Glen and Greg.
Her daugher-in-law, Beryl is
from England and still has her
delightful British accent.
Ann's husband's favorite food
is her own treasured family
recipe for beef stew and he also
loves her chocolate fudge cake.
Her favorite color is a warm,
sunny yellow and her home is
furnished in Cape Cod Early A-merican.
She likes semi-classi-cal
music and reading and knitting
but her secret passion is guns.
She often accompanies her hus-band
on his hunting trips and can
shoot any gun or rifle so well
she is kiddingly called the "Annie
Oakley of Long Island" by her
husband and her son-in-law, who
are both keen hunters.
The most vivid remembrances
of her life are the birth of her
two children, and then her grand-children
when she was installed
as Worthy Matron of the Order
of the Eastern Star. There are
21 Chapters of the Order in Nas-sau
County and one of her pet
trips the past few years has been
to go to the Home for the Elderly
of the Eastern Star in Oriskany,
N.Y, for Pilgrimage Day each
year for the past 4 years.
She and her husband also en-joy
New Hampshire and often stay
at the Scandanavian Inn in White-hall
in that state for brief va-cations.
Ann has just returned
from the lOlst Eastern Star Con-vention
at the Statler Hilton Ho-tel
in New York which she at-tended
for the entire session.
She is a small and petite lady,
5 ft. 1 in. in height with soft
brown hair and lovely brown eyes
and a fine carriage which makes
her look quite queenly despite
her actual height. She is a gentle
and quiet and thoughtful woman
of great compassion and under-standing.
She is quite slim and
has an excellent figure so that it
is hard to believe that she is a
grandmother. From all reports
she is one of the most widely
loved and respected Worthy Mat-rons
in many a year of her or-ganization.
It is easy to see why
she would be popular because
she is the type of lady who listens
well and misses very little and
is kindly and charming to boot.
The motto of the Eastern Star
is: "Charity, Truth, and Loving
Kindness." Ann is the personifi-cation
of each of these attributes
which are so wonderful in a
woman.
The main purpose of the
Eastern Star is to promote fel-lowship
and fraternalism. They
work with youth groups such as
the Rainbow Girls and the Tri-angle
Girls and the DeMolay
Boys. They meet twice a month.
They also help needy sisters
who cannot get along on their
pensions with monthly checks.
Ann Arnsperger is quite a fine
person and truly well represents
her beloved organization.
