Village Clerk Retiring

A Public Meeting of the
Vlllt ^e Board of Lynbrook was
held on Monday evening at 8:00
p,m, at the Municipal Building
on Merrick Rd,
After a reading of the Min-utes
of the previous Board Meet-ing,
Mayor Francis X, Becker
called the meeting to order and
welcomed all those present. He
remarked that this would be the
last meeting of the Board at-tended
by Village Clerk, Mrs,
Dorothy McGuire who is re-tiring
at the end of this month.
He cited her years of unsel-sh
service to the people of
ynbrook and that regardless of
political affiliation that came
f i r s t to her. The Mayor further
stated that it will be difficult to
equal her knowledge of all
Village laws and ordinances and
every pioblem faced by local
government and that all would
miss her loyal hard work very
much. At the motion of Mayor
Becker a Resolution was passed
p r i s i n g Mrs, McGuire for her
years of devoted service as the
isest public servant Lynbrook has
had. Trustee Raskin also joined
as a member of the Unity Party
and one of it's representative
Board members and praised Mrs.,
McGuire as the be st Village Clerk
in Nassau County,
The Mayor remarked that the
eigth item of business on the
Agenda for the Board Meeting
would be moved up so that the
photographer and people involved
in it could be finished a bit
e a r l i e r . The Mayor called on
the Chairman of the Christmas
Program of the Lynbrook Cham-ber
of Commerce, Inc, Mr,
Larry Moskowitz to come up
and introduce the winners of
the 1967 Christmas Home Dec-orating
Contest in Lynbrook etc,
Mr, Moskowitz thanked the
Executive Secretary of the
Chamber for her work in con-nection
with the program of a-
•wards and mentioned that the
Chamber-Lyns, the Junior Aux-iliary
of the Lynbrook Chamber
of Commerce has set up a
special committee with her help
and examined the 6,000 homes
in Lynbrook for the best and
most tastefully decorated. The
President of the Junior Chamber
Qr Chamber-Lyns, Francis Tos-ner
introduced his Committee
members as Benjamin Hallock,
Paul K. Ling, and John
Chang, all young Lynbrook
residents. First Prize Placques
were awarded to Mr, and Mrs,
One Registration Day
According to VUlage L^w and
for purposes of economy the
Incorporated Village of East
Rockaway is having one Regis-tration
Day f o r the Special Village
Election to be conducted In
March. Registration Day will be
held on March 2nd, 1968 and the
polls will be open on that day

expressed the deep regret

The Citizens Party of East
Rockaway announced last week
their candidate for Village Po-lice
Justice, John C. Dillon,
Esq., of 8 Sachem Ave., East
Rockaway, and Charles J. Ber-wind,
of 32 Alexine Ave., East
Rockaway, for Village Trustee.
A special election will b^ held
Tuesday, March 19, 1968 to fill
both positions now temporarily
held by appointees due to the
passing-away of the elected of-fice
holders.
