The li.appy Foreign Exchange
Weekend has come to a success-ful
close. On Thursday night,
the students, accompanied by the-ir
hosts, went to the High School
PTA meeting. Our own visiting
students were joined by 25 Ex-change
students staying at other
homes in Nassau County, all
of whom stayed in East Rocka-way

weekend activities.
Policy
Statement
1. The Board of Education of
Malverne School District No. 12
reaffirms that the Resolution ad-opted
on January 22, 1966 re-garding
the postponement of the
date for reassignment of elemen-tary
pupils was a temporary
limited delay which would en-able
the Federal judge to reach
a conclusion on the motion be-fore
him.
2. The Board fully intends to
obey the Allen order of January
24, 1966 to the extent physically
possible within five (5) days af-ter
a decision in the pending
case if the Federal judge does
not issue an injunction.
3. The Board believes that
the Allej^ order will not be a
satisfactory long range solution
and believes that other alterna-tives,
such as (1) changing boun-dsury
lines between districts or
(2) a central elementary school,
will be long range solutions in
the best interest of all the stu-dents.
The above statement of pol-icy
was adopted unanimously by
the Board of Education on Jan-uary
29, 1966.

UNITY DINNER
By Jean Warner
Lynbrook's Unity Party held its 31st Anniversary Dinner-Dance
at the Valley Stream Park Inn on Wednesday evening, January 23rd.
Its honored guest for the evening was Hempstead Town Supervisor
Francis T. Purcell, an almost-local boy who, according to Mayor
Mangravite, lived "short of 900 yards" to be claimed as Lynbrook's
own. On hand to enjoy the evening were some 500 people, loyal
party members and guests.
Referring to the evening as a "neighborly meeting to renew and
strengthen friendships," Toastmaster Harry Dickerson introduced
Mayor George H. Mangravite. Lynbrook's mayor also spoke of nei-ghborliness
and village government and said he was grateful to have
the opportunity of an evening to say "Hello Neighbor" before the
evening faded into "tomorrow's hectic history of our town." Mal-verne's
former mayor and Lynbrook's neighbor, spoke at length on
the village form of government, village parties (not THOSE kind!),
the benefits derived therefrom and their contribution to the County
of Nassau.
Senator Norman F. Lent of East Rockaway, another-almost-native
son, was introduced as was Lynbrook's Judge Nathan Zelby;'
Mike Krawchuck led the Pledge of AUegience and Tillie Rashkin,
wife of Trustee Benjamin Rashkin, led the singing of our National
Anthem, Former Village Clerk Harold E. Dana presented a plaque
to Bonno Reis, Village Treasurer, for his 22 years of service to
the Village of Lynbrook.
On the dais with Mayor and Mrs. Mangravite and Supervisor
and Mrs. Purcell were Unity Party President Bernard Dunn and his
wife, Mary; Village Trustee and Mrs. Benjamin Rashkin? Trustee
Jay Korth and his wife Grace; Toastmaster Harry Dickerson and his
wife, Ruth; Trustee and Acting Mayor James J. Gambee and his wife,
Ann, and Trustee and Mrs. George J. Xydias.
