Memorial Day Ceremonies
ER LIONS: Last week the East Rockaway Lions Club had as their
juest former fight champion Chlco Vejar who devotes much of his
time working for Cerebral Palsy. He talked on this subject and
showed a film of his fight with Billy Graliam. Pictured above at
the meeting are (left to right) Larry Arrons, Lions Deputy District

9:45 A.M. at Vincent Avenue and
Merrick Road proceeding North

The usual memorial services
will be observed at the Doughboy
Monument in Ross Plaza. In
case of inclement weather, cere-monies
will be held in the Com-munity
Hall of Temple Emanu-El
at 10:00 A.M.
Prior to the parade the Fire
Department will hold its annual
Memorial Service at the Fire-men's
Memorial on Sunrise High-way.
Mayor Mangravite and the
Village Board will attend this
ceremony at 8:30 A,M,
EAST ROCKAWAY
The Veterans Organizations
of East Rockaway announce that
the speaker at this year's ser-vices
will be Sgt. 1/C Omie S.
White, a sixteen year Army vet-eran
who has recently returned
from Viet Nam and is currently
assigned to U.S. Army Recruit-ing
in Valley Stream.
The parade is scheduled to
begin promptly at 10 a.m. follow-ing
the same route as in the
past. Main Street to Ocean
Avenue, Ocean Avenue to Center
Avenue, Center Avenue to At-lantic
Avenue and Atlantic Ave-nue
to Memorial Park. Follow-ing
the invocation by the Rev.
John J. M^Donough of St. Ray-mond's
Church, the East Rocka-way
High School Band, under the
direction of John Pellicane, will
play our National Anthem. Com-mander
John Trum of East Rock-away
American Legion Post #958
will extend greetings to the gath-ering
and Commander Joseph
Ledner of VFW Robert F. Garri-son
Post #3350 will introduce the
distinguished guests after which
Sgt. White will give the address.
Following remarks by Mayor
Charles M. Krull, Boy Scouts,
under the direction of Anthony
Pepitb, will place the Memorial

DIVORCE: Last week Heritage Lodge and Chapter of B'nai B'rith
sponsored a discussion on the subject, "Divorce New York Style."
Participating in the discussion and pictured above are (left to right)
Father Robert Wickman of Our Lady of Peace; Rev. Dr. Louis E.
Young of St. James Methodist; Rabbi Jehiel Orenstein of Congrega-tion
Beth David, who served as moderator; and Rabbi Harold Saper-stein
of Temple Emanu-El. The speakers had a packed house for
this most provocative subject.
