Dinner Huge Success
MEADOW BROOK BANK'S HENRY STEINBERG RETIRES: Mr.
Henry Steinberg, vice president and manager Qf the Meadow Brook
National Bank's Central Lynbrook office, retired recently after 45
years in the banking field, 39 with Meadow Brook. Bank President,
R. Canon Clements (left) and Miss Sarah Buck, assistant vice
president. Central Lynbrook, were among the more than 130 friends
of Mr. Steinberg on hand for a testimonial . dinner in his honor.
The East Rockaway Republi-can
Club held its Annual Dinner
Dance last Friday evening at the
Valley Stream Park Inn. The
honored guest of the evening was
Lt. Governor Malcolm Wilson,
an excellent speaker whose you-thful
appearance belies his twen-ty-
five years experience in gov-ernment.
Also seated on the dais
were: the Republican Leader of
Nassau County, State Senator,
Edward J. Speno; East Rocka-way's
favorite son, State Sena-tor
Norman F. Lent; Presiding
Supervisor of the Town of Hemp-stead,
Ralph G. Caso; Town Su-pervisor
Francis T. Purcell; As-semblyman
Robert M. Blakeman;
Thomas Brennan, the Republican
candidate for the 5th Congress-ional
District in the November
elections; East Rockaway's May-or
Charles M. Krull; Executive
Committeeman Raymond Harr-ington;
East Rockaway's Repub-lican
Club President, H. Bruce
Allin and Past President, James
Dillon, and the Reverand John R.
McElderry of Bethany Congrega-tional
Church who delivered both
the invocation and the benedic-tion.
Among the guests, and in-toduced
to the gathering was our
former Congressman Frank Bec-ker
of Lynbrook.
Senator Speno spoke highly of
the able job being done by Re-publican
legislators in Albany,
and Presiding Supervisor Ralph
Caso presente-'. a Past Presi-dent's
plaque to outgoing presi-dent
Jim Dillon commending the
Club for honoring its past presi-dent
in this fashion because the
president is an "integral part
of our entire system which leads
us to the polls."
Speaking of the work to be
done in the coming months. Sen-ator
Lent referred to the fact
that the Dinner-Dance was orig-inated
in honor of Abraham Lin-coln
and suggested a lesson might
be learned from that gentleman,
quoting an unfamiliar but apropos
statement: "The whole state must
be so well organized that every

District 12 To Vote
June 14th is the date for the
new vote on the budget in Mal-verne.
Two propositions will
be voted on - (1) The budget
for the year beginning July 1st
and (2) Should $15,000 be ex-pended
for adult education?
Voting will take place from
11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the High
School. Registration will be
held on June 7th from 3 to 9
p.m., also in the High School.
Persons who registered at the
annual meeting on May 3rd need
not r e - r e g i s t e r.
A copy of the proposed bud-get
may be obtained, by any tax-payer
in the district, at each
school between 9 a.m. and 3
p.m. on any of the seven days
preceding June 14, exclusive of
Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.
