East Rockaway Lynbrook Malverne
Vol. 5, No. 32 K M l . T f d HB Se.oiKl f l : t S 8 Miitler.

ONE-WAY ANOTHER BECKER
On Sunday, May 1, the flow of
traffic in the vicinity of St. Ray-monds
Church will be controlled
by one-way streets during the
hours of 6:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
This is being done to facilitate
the flow of traffic and relieve
the congestion that occurs dur-ing
the hours that Sunday masses
are being held in the Church.
The plan for the one-way streets
has been investigated and approv-ed
by the Nassau County Police
Traffic Bureau. Appropriate
signs as suggested by the Nassau
County Police are now being pre-pared
and will be erected shortly
by the East Rockaway Department
of Public Works.
The streets involved will be:
Roosevelt Avenue one-way from
Atlantic Avenue to Highland Ave.;
and Carman Avenue one-way
from Highland Avenue to Atlan-tic
Avenue. It is the hope of
Mayor Krull and the East Rock-away
Board of Trustees that the
over all benefits that will be
realized from this plan will more
than offset any minor inconveni-ences.
EXCHANGE STUDENT: Susan Murray, East Rockaway High School
Exchange Student, shows Hal U. Fisher, President of the East
Rockaway Civic Assn., her photo album depicting her many ex-periences
in Chile. Miss Murray addressed the Civic Assn. last
week, telling about her stay in Chile as part of the Foreign Exchange
Program.

RUNNING FOR OFFICE
HEMPSTEAD TOWN PRESIDING SUPERVISOR RALPH G. CASO dons geophones which pick up and
measure! earth tremors as Stannard Potter, acoustical expert, explains how equipment helps separate
aircraft noise from other types of noise. Trio in background are magnetic tape recorder, amplifier,
and vibration meter, all part of apparatus to supply court-acceptable evidence that East Rockaway and
Lynbrook and surrounding residential areas get unbearably noisy due to Jet aircraft flying almost low
enough to brush rooftops.
The name of Becker was re-turned
to the political wars on
Nassau County this week when
Robert G. Becker, son of Con-gressman
Frank J. Becker (Ret.)
was unanimously endorsed for

and Director of the Association.
During his father's 12 years
in Congress, besides managing
the family business, he volun-tarily

at public functions in behalf of
the Congressman.
In 1965, he was a member of
the Special "Thrust" Committee,
which directed the successful
