meeting. The Report, a fbtn^page publication of the East Rock-away
Board of Trade carried a calmnnious statement in its Edi-tor's
Comer against an unidentified village oflFicial.
The statement read: "It's being
told that one of om- village officials
almost had a a-la-Mangravite ac-cording
to a land conveyance made
last September."
Krull stated that he had asked the
editor of the Report (the editor of
the publication has always remained
anonymous) to whom he was refer-ring,
but the editor refused to dis-close
the name. "I feel very badly
about the whole situation," Knill
stated, "because I have checked
with every village official and have
cheeked the records and as far as I
can see, every one who holds elective
office is a qualified property owner."
The Mayor stated that unless the
editor named the person to whom he
was referring, he M'ill demand a re-traction
in the next issue of the Re-port.
Later, after the meeting, Mayor
Krull said that he regretted the
aspersi(m cast upon "our friend and
neighbor, Ivfayor Ceorge H. Mangra-vite,
and I intend to write him and
apologize on behalf of the East
Rockaway Board of Trade."
When asked about the East Rock-away

said, "1 refuse to give dignity
to the Rejoort, therefore I will not
coaunent on it."
