School Board to explain why Freedom School classes' should not be allowed to be heid in tlie
Woodfield Road School on Saturdays.

Congressman Frank J. Becker (R),
Lynbrook, New York, member of
the Ariued Services Committee of
the House of Representatives left for
Europe on Thursday, March 26lh,
to visit military bases in Spain,
U.S. Air Forcc Insfallatitms in Wies.
baden, Germany, U.S. Army Head-quarters
in Heidelberg, and Air
Force Headquarters in England.
During his visits he will also meet
with U.S. Ambassadors in each co^m-try
to discuss matters of mutual con-cern
to our country.
Becker said, just before leaving,
"Many problems concern our mili-tary
personnel abroad and I want
to be able to make a full and ac-curate
report to my committee upon
my return. We are establishing a
new Polaris Submarine Base at our
Naval Base in Rota, Spain. I want
to see how our servicemen arc being
treated under the regulations govern,
ing our military personnel in foreign
courts, and their condition gener-ally."
Congressman Becker stated for
years he fought the Status of Forces
Agreements with foreign comitries,
and while lie was not successful in
changing these agn^ements, great im-provement
has been made and our
servicemen are now being furnislied
conns(>l by our Defense l)(>partinent.
Further, many countries now permit
military trials For most oflensc^s, ex-cept
major crimes, and in many of
tliese eas(\s, Americans ar(> being
turned ()\'cr to U.S. Military authori-ties.
Budget Hearing
On April 20, 1964, the Board of
Trustees of the Incorporated Village
of Lynbrook will hold a public hear-ing
on the final compilation of the
1964-65 budget for the village.
l l i e taxpayers of the village are
invited to attend and participate at
tliis hearing before the budget is ap-proved.
On Saturday, April 11 at 12 Noon
the Lynbrook, Malverne, East Rock-away
Jimior League of Mercy Hos-pital
will hold its luncheon and card
party at the Viking Manor Restau-rant,
Sunrise Highway, Lynbrook.
A .smorgasbord luncheon, includ-ing
many exotic dishes, will be
served. There will be a sweepstakc^s
and raffle prizes, one of which will
be dinner and a weekend in New
York City. Ladies are invited to come
and play any game they desire.
Tables for bridge will be set up,
scrabble boards are welcome or any
other game desired.
Donation for this gala afternoon is
$4.25 per person with all proceeds
to benefit the Mercy Hospital Build-ing
Fund. Reservations may be made
through program chairman, Mrs.

Zacker, LY 3-6384.
The order was obtained by Fred
1. Sonnenfeld, an American Jewish
Ccmgress attorney, on behalf of Bur-bank
Mitchell and Ewell W. Finley
of Malverne. The school board has
vmtil April 13 to reply.
The board has accepted the re-cpiest
of the United Committee for
Action Now to use the school. How-ever,
]nany conditions were attach-ed
to the acceiDtance, which the
committee rejected and the court
action ensued.
Edward F. Nasierowski, school
board member, stated that the board
had not been sei-ved, as yet, with
papers in either suit, the present
one in Supreme Court or the on<i
instituted in Federal Court last
week. Until the school lioard is of-ficially
served ith these papers,
nothing xvill be done.
Mr. Nasierowski also stated that
although the District Attorney's
office has been pressed regarding
the persons arrested last fall for
demonstrations, nothing has been
accomplished.
