Statement From
Board Member
Nasierowski
After the press conference called
by the American Jewish Congress
last Tuesday mo.ming in Malverne,
when the annoimcement was made
that eight Negro parents filed suit in
the Federal District Court charging
the Malverne School Board with
racial segi-egatioii. School Board
Member Edward Nasierowski had
this to say:
"The liberal element iii Malverne
and Lynbrook, that has been vocif-erous
in their demiinds for integra-tion
and who were given the oppor-tunity
by the. School Boiwd of Mal-verne
to put into action the vohm-tary
integration " of their cihildren
with Negro children, as they had
been clamoring for, apparently were
embaiTassed when the question was
put to them. Their answer usual to
free thinkers and bigots, that when
faced vi'ith the reality of actually
having THEIH child walk to a dis-tant
school for the mere sake of in-tegration
and its nnproven benefits,
and not education, do what comes
naturally to a group like this — They
bring you to Court, The school dis-trict
apparently will entail substan-tial
legal fec^s to defend this action.
With budget re(juirenients increasing
every year, coupled with no in-creased
state aid, th(> heavy burden
put on Taxpayers should not bo in-creased
by unnecessary lawsuits."
Hampton Speakes
Mason Hampton, the attorney that
successfully fought the Allen Prince-ton
Plan through the New York
State Supreme Court for Taxpayers
and Parents had this to say when
contacted about the recent suit
brought by eight Negro parents.
"Had they been alert, they, the
Negro parent.s, would have taken
this action a year ago. This now in-volves
a federal question. We (TAP)
will corite.st this case where ever
tliey niay be removed (from State
to Federal Court)." "I feel," Hamp-ton
stated, "Tliey have waited too
long for this to be of any effect."
Emergency Operation
Mrs. Ruth Ressmeyer, wife of the
