Mayor Stays In
New York State Attorney General Louis J. Lefkowitz in his
decision handed down Dec. 19, said that "Mayor George H.
Mangiavite was qualified at all times to hold office." The At-torney

Graduates From
Training School
Patrolman Charles F. Polley, new-est
addition to the Malverne Po-lice
Department, graduated today
from the Recruit Training Class, Po-lice
Department, County of Nassau.
Ptl. Polley was in sixth place in a
class comprised of sixty-two recruits.
The objectives of the police train-ing
program are to give the new re-cruits
an over-all knowledge of the
role of law enforcement officers a'nd
the fundamentals of all police work.
Und^r these objectives are many
subdivisions which are taught by
.specialists brought in from the out-side.
Mayor at the Albany hearing, .stated
that the decision denied the appli-cation
of Watson Morgan, the de-feated
Village Party candidate for
mayor, to have Mayor Mangravite
removed from office "because he
was not a property^ owner in the vil-lage'^
of Lynbrook at the time he ran
for office." Scuderi pointed out that
in the Attorney General's ruling, it
stated "The re.spondent (Mayor Man-gravite)
was qualified at the time of
his election, on the day he took of-fice
and on the day the proceedings
were commenced. I tlierefort; deny
the application of the petitioner
(Watson Morgan)."
The Helm-Review will carry the
full text of this important decision
in next week's issue.
Some of the subjects covered in
the course are: first aid, duties of
patrolmen at scenes of fires, crimes
and accidents, traffic direction and
supervision, laws of evidence and
laws of arrest, driving skills and
firearms shooting.
