County Extension Service will be a

Thomas' Episcopal Church, 44 St.
Thomas PI., Malverne, at 8:30 p.m.

Second Election Called For E.R.
DeNoie Wins In Malverne
T l i e E a s t Rockaway School District still has a vacancy on the school board. In an unusual
turn of events, none of the three candidates mnning for the seat vacated by Dr. Anthony
Scimeca, were able to poll a majority of votes to capture the seat. A winning candidate needed
2 3 1 votes from the 4 6 0 residents who went to the j)olls.

T^e Church of the Nazerene, East Rockaway celebrated its fiftieth
year ot existance with special ceremonies marking the occasion last Su,«lay.

Lynbrook Elks To Give Benefit
One Fund Established
The various groups raising funds for t h e families of the four
victims that were killed in the fire truck collision have combined
their efforts to establish one Lynbrook fund.

performances of their Annual Men's
Show "ELKS-A-POPPIN" on Fri-day
evening. May 17th and on Sat-urday
evemug. May 18th. All pro-ceeds
will be donated to the LYN-BROOK
ACCIDENT VICTIMS
FUND, which is being raised for the
families of the four victims.
The show Eoes on after the 11
o'clock Elks Toast. A collation will
be served after the show. Tickets
are $3.50 per person.
Dancing from 9 p.m. both nights
to the music of Jack Harvey's Or-chestra,
who is donating his serv-ices.
Lynbrook GOP To Honor
Congressman Becker
The Lynbrook Republican Club will hold its annual dinner-dance
Thursday evening, May 16th, at Valley Stream Park Inn
The dinner w i l l l i o n o r Congressman F r a n k J. Becker, whose
F i f t h Congressional District encompasses most of Nassau Coun-ty
s south shore and who has been a member of congress for 10
years. He is also a member of the House Armed Services Com-mittee.

from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. In this
second election it is not nece.ssary
to re-register and the winning candi-

Malvenie Incumbent Wins
Dr. Bayard DeNoie, inciunbent,
running on his past accomplish-numts
with the school board defeat-ed
Mrs. Elsie N. Biyant, a .school
teacher, 1,937 to 1,498. The Mal-verne
school district budget was
passed with 1,504 yes votes with
948 voting against it. On the pro-posal
to sell a strip of property to
the county, the voters gave 1,643
yes votes to .sell, with 740 against
the proposal. Luis Bejamo was re-elected
to the board receiving 2,228
votes.
Library Out
Residents of Lakeview defeated
the proposal to build a library for
their area by a murow 79 vote mar-gin.
The results were 456 voting no
with 377 voting in favor of the li-brary.
