taxes have increased by
38% during just the last two

for the upcoming March 21,
1989 Village election in
which the village justice and
two trustees positions on the
village board will be elected.

candidates said in their
announcement statement.
"But we also know that the
current Village Administra-tion
has failed in its obliga-

St. Raymond Poster Contest Winner
In an effort to place the
emphasis on the true mean-ing
of Christmas, the St.
Raymond's Holy Name
Society Society sponsored a
"Keep Christ m Christmas"
poster contest, which was
open to all students of the
school as well as those public
school students who attend
Confirmatory classes after
school.The contest was met
with a lot of enthusiasm and
talent.
The winners in each grade
for 1988 were as follows:

Grade 3: Laura Pelick
Grade 4: Laura Pelick
Grade 5: Liz Glynn

An Honorable Mention
was given to Elizabeth Loti-tio
in the first grade for her
entry. Mary Jaeger's poster
was chosen by the Diocesan
by James Groark
Union of Holy Name Socie-ties,
which encompasses
over 25 parishes, as the best
first grade poster through-out
the Diocese of Rockville

JUDGE JOHN R.
O'CONNOR was first
elected village justice in
1985. Judge O'Connor, wife
Ann, and their 10 children,
seven girls and three boys,
have resided in Lynbrook
for nearly 35 years, and live
on Stevenson Street.
Judge O'Connor, who
attended Erasmus High
School, went on to receive
his Bachelor of Arts Degree
from St. Francis College and
his law degree from St.
and Village Trustees Ste-phen
T. Grogan and Eugene
Natale were unanimously
endorsed by the nominating
committee of the Good
Government Party. The
announcement was made by
Mayor William P. Geier at
the Good Government Par-ty's
Annual Village Holiday
Party at the American
Legion Hall.
Judge O'Connor and
John's University Law
School. Judge O'Connor
was admitted to the New
York State Bar in 1953. He
is also admitted to practice
in the United States
Supreme Court and the
United States District
Courts for the Southern and
Eastern Districts of New
York. He is a senior member
of the law firm of O'Connor
and Hayes P.C. vvjith an
office located on Atlantic
Avenue opposite St. Ray-monds
Church. Judge 'Jack'
O'Connor is also a veteran
of the United States Marine
Corp.
Judge O'Connor is a
member of the American
Bar Association, Nassau
County Bar Association,
New York Bar Association,
New County Bar Associa-tion,
and the Nassau County
and New York State Mag-istrates
Association.

Trustee Grogan were first
elected to office in 1985
while Trustee Natale was
appointed trustee in 1988 to
fill the seat vacated by the
retirement of Leo 'Bud'
Lanning. The Good Gov't
Party was formed in 1983 to
give residents a choice in
choosing their elected offi-cials
after 16 years of one
party government in
Lynbrook.
Peace Parish. Jack is a
former member of both the
Our Lady of Peace School
Board and the Parish Coun-cil.
He is also a Lector and
singer at Our Lady of Peace
Church. In addition. Jack is
a memljer of the Ancient
Order of Hibernians,
member of the Friendly
Sons of St Patrick of New
York and Friendly Sons of
St* Patrick Nassau and Suf-folk
Counties. Jack is Vice-
President of the Irish Cul-tural
Society of Garden City.
Also in 1988, Judge O'Con-nor
served as the local chair-man
for the 75th Anniver-sary
Mercy Hospital "Mercy
Ball."
TRUSTEE STEPHEN T.
GROGAN is a lifelong res-ident
of Lynbrook USA,
growing up on Marshall
Avenue and now living on
Green Avenue. Trustee Gro-gan
is married 16 years to
lifelong resident Jane Dan-tona,
formerly of Whitehall
Street and they have two
children, Stephen Michael,
age 12 and Brian Dominic,
age 5 months. Trustee Gro-gan
attended West End
School and later transferred
to Our Lady of Peace when
the school was built. Jane
also attended OLP and their
son Stephen is a 7th grader
at OLP. Trustee Grogan also
attended and graduated
from Archbishop Molloy
