plan to erect an office build-ing
on the site. At present,
there is a two family house
there.
During the formal Public
Hearing, Attorney Charles
Theofan represented the
owners and he explained
that the owners BAS Devel-opment
Corp. had first
submitted plans to the Lyn-brook
Building Dept. for a 3
story office building with
one level for parking. The
plans then went to the
Architectural Board of
Review who judge the over-all
aesthetics of new build-ings.
The Review Board
asked for further specfica-tions
on the proposed light-ing
and landscaping. The
BAS Construction went
back to the Review Board
within 14 days and were
informed that the village
had just changed their off-street
parking requirements.
Later, at the Review Board
Meeting of April 15th, the
building plans were rejected.
The village u l t i m a t e ly
rejected the plan because of
many conditions at the site,
such as hazardous traffic
conditions • on • Scranton &
Horton Avenues and stated
that the proposed office
building is too large for the
small plot of land.
The Village Hall was
packed with Valley Stream
and Lynbrook residents
who objected to the proposed
office building at the last
Board Meeting, indicating
the deep concern of area res-idents.
At this meeting a let-ter
opposing the building
was read by Valley Stream
