Committee smile their
approval of the I988Tricen-tennial
Anniversary plate
for the Grist Millthat willgo
on sale Memorial Day 1987.
The supply will be limited so
that is has been suggested
that those who desire a plate
should list their names with
a member of the committee,
who will turn them over to
Che Bell who will be in
charge of sales. Orders will
be handled on a "first come
first serve" basis after the
May date.
With this year's Frolic
income, plus funds from the
last few years, the building
will be painted and over-hauled
so that it will be in
fine shape for the anniverary
celebration. It was also
announced that Vincent
Christian© will be the com-mittee's
new treasurer after
the resignation of Dolores
Wissel who served in that
position for many years.

Village Expresses Concern Over
Construction Site
Since the tragic loss of the
life at the coristruction site at
185 Merrick Road, the
Mayor and Village Board
have been making every
effort to protect the public
from any further mishaps.
Immediately after the inci-dent
the following measures
were taken in that vain.
1. A stop work order was
served immediately by the
Village.
2. A vacate order was
served on the adjoining
property owner as his prop-erty
was also endangered by
the incident according to
Village Engineers.
3. The Nassau County
Dept. of Public Works was
requested to check and
assure the Mayor of the
safety of the road abutting
the property.
4. The owner erected a
plywood fence around the
site, but it was not sufficient
for security purposes
according to the Building
Inspector and Police Dept.,
thus the Mayor ordered a
chain link fence to be
installed around the site and
a security guard to be posted
on a daily basis.
5. The Village Deputy
Attorney appeared in Court
in conjunction with Mr.
Gertler, the adjoining prop-erty
owner to have his prop-erty
made safe, thus allow-ing
him to occupy the
structure.
6. Judge Alfred Robbins
ordered "RVJ" Construc-tion
to submit plans to the
Village Engineers within 7
days outlining the corrective
measures needed to secure
the entire site and make it
safe.
7. The Village Deputy Vil-lage
Attorney made a
motion requiring RVJ Con-struction
to act immediately
in this matter rather than
wait the 7 days.
8. Mayor Geier then
instructed that all costs
incurred by the Village be
assessed back aeainst the
property and in addiltion
the situation at the site be
monitored on a daily basis
to insure compliance.
9. The Mayor personally
visited the site on 10/29/86
to keep abreast of the pro-gress,
and will continue to
pursue the matter until the
a b o v e problems are
corrected.
10. The Mayor and Board
are extremely interested in
making sure that tragedies
such as this will not occur
again in Lynbrook and the
safety of the public is
assured.
HERE COMES THE CHIEF: Raymond Gimmler of East
Rockaway, right, 30-year member of New York City Uni-formed
Fire Officers, congratulates Assemblyman Arthur J.
Kremer who was named "honorary chief of New York City
Fire Department. Kremer has sponsored legislation benefit-ting
widows and firefighters.
